The earth is flat and only a couple thousand years old - I didn't know you guys still existed. Very cool.
Now I'm confused with your stance in this. It seems to me like you want to accept one part of the evolution theory but not others, is that right? Can you define your belief more exactly?
I personally believe in both creation, and evolution as adaptation. There's evidence for adaptation all over the place. We can see it happening before our eyes. Also, much of the bible, especially the old testament, is an Alligory which teaches truth not through the recording of historical facts, but by telling stories that are supposed to bring a person to a particular kind of understanding. That understanding is the truth that is sought. Like when you tell your kid a story about sharing in order to get him to share. The bible still contains truth, but not all of that truth is historical documentation. At least that is my current understanding. I admit I could be wrong. I have yet, however, to see anyone show me any evidence for adaptation as the origin of all things, and that humans grew up out of bacteria other than similarities in genetic code, and that could just as easily be explained as creator that was relatively efficient in his design. Keep in mind that Darwin's theory wasn't one of origin, but rather one of current observable processes.
ok so the bolded part is you saying that God and the good people come from the USA? and the people only went to church to be able to vote in the USA? i mean comeon, do you read what you write? you have a "Preview Post" button, mayeb you should use it and read what you say, before you hit submit post. the church wont allow homosexuals to excist if it had its way, it tells them they will burn in hell. yet most child sexual abuse commited by pastors is protected by the church. i just wonder what the people who follow the church, think about it at times, you cant have it both ways, ie bomb abortion clinics and Dr's because they do an abortion, and then say it was gods will that they died, because they were commiting an act against gods will, who gave you the right to say what gods will is? the bible is a collection of words from different people, put together as a book, to repesent the word of God at that time, but even back then, when very few people could read, nothing was questioned, but today, we have the knowhow and the use of our education to question what we are told, and we have the presences of mind to judge what we believe to be fact or fiction. and trust me, i believe that most of the contents of the bible or any other book of religion, is more fiction than fact.
Creation: I go on faith. Evolution as Adaption: I go on evidence which supports the theory. Electrical circuit theory: I go on evidence which supports the current theory. Evolution as the origin of man coming from a single celled organism: I have yet to see any real evidence showing this. My understanding is that people that say that evolution as the origin of man are working just about as much off of Faith as I am.
Faith is not enough for convincing skeptics, since Faith is a belief, trust, or confidence, not based merely on logic, reason, or empirical data. There's for example evidence that humans have the same ancestor as monkeys.
I've got diagrams on how to build a circuit that uses a combination of AC and DC power to allow a waveform to bypass diode filters without clipping. So a circuit can be both AC and DC. As for the human body, there is no consistent voltage source, and there is no specified frequency or amplitude to the changes. Again, according to my understanding. So I'd have to say neither. However this is just my current understanding of the electrical processes of the body... something which I have not studied in great detail. The signal around the heart might be a combination of several sinusoidal waveforms and a DC bias, in which case it'd be a combination of AC and DC, but that's not something I'm qualified to give a dissertation on.
Then would you mind providing said evidence? I'm also still waiting for you to say that there's evidence that humans evolved from single celled organisms, which is true according to an expanded version of the evolution theory.
I think the Wiki confused me. I don't know if I completely understand it. If I could understand it I would. I had to go get lunch. I'm back.
You can see, by bones that been found. That the human creature have slowly adapted itself in stages toward the current state, Hominem Sapiens.
Well, I'm just asking you, as this is a debate that requires each side to compare their evidence with each other, in order to come to a sane conclusion. Heaven? Hell? Likely not, how can you require me to believe that without providing any evidence?
heaven and hell, are a state of mind, not a place you can visit like a holiday camp. they exsist in a persons mind as part of a religious teaching and acceptance of that teaching as truth. my understanding is that heaven only has place for X ammount of people, and that must have had its quota filled by now, so everyone's going to hell
I don't expect you to believe. I would hope you would, but I will not force it out of you. I am not a theologian, so I am not really all that qualified to enter into a debate like this. And science, and the scientific method are not the only ways to knowledge or belief things. They are a subset of it. However people seek to govern the other ways by the methods of science, and place it as the master of all others.
