i was quite surprised to find out that, i don't have too many members with higher posts, above me. just 2500 members are above me, out of a total of "31,000". i found my name on the 84th page of the membership list.

this clearly suggests, that a lot of member are peon. and they don't really post too much.

Sure, you are right Nintendo - but I found it interesting. Most lurkers don't even register - you don't need to register to lurk....

People signup and never post more than one post - usually cause they want their link to appear to a quality site that has good indexing... damm the spammers!!!

just count the number of peons and you will see how many are not even crossing the grunt phase.

    nice ranks!
peon, grunt, am happy to be a berserker, then tauren etc.
the famous game warcraft, has these ranks, i hope the admin is a fan of warcraft.

or, is it the vbullitin ranks, anyways.
    cheers!

You can usually tell who they are by the quality of the post.

If I see an old join date and very few posts and they're quality reading then I know that person means what they have to say and it's worth listening to.

I think some members just registered to spam. Then they realize that they need to be a member for 14 days to make posts with live links and then they leave. I'm really glad we have a rule like that. :D

I'm getting many PMs about service offers from members with 0 posts and older join dates, some are here purely for business and don't do any posting at all.

Hmmm that issue must be related to a specific area of the forum... i mainly post in the directories section and have never really ever got any service offer posts... strange...

It must be a misconception that directory owners never like to spend money... or maybe it isn't... maybe we are just wise and people realise that there no point in trying to swindle a directory owner with good business sense...

As strange as it sounds for us outgoing people with tough skins, some people aren't built like us. Having a forum (receiving PM's from they explaining why they never post) means I've learned that MANY people are too scarred to make a fool of themselves by posting. They feel like they don't know enough about topics to contribute (and they usually do know enough). Believe it or not, shyness affects the "forum" world the same way as the "real" world.
