    Hello,

My website is ranked no. 2 on Yahoo! for Hotel Management International (company name). However, it is nowhere to be found on Google.

Can anyone give me tips on how I can improve my website to get it ranked and how I can find out whick keywords would enable me to get more exposure online, without paying thousands of dollars? My website has been online for almost a year, but still see no results with Google.

Small company with a small marketing budget.

    Thanks!

    Marc

i have gone through your site.
    this is your title
    "Hotel Management International - HMI"

it will help a lot if you remove this " - HMI"

or atlease remove "-" and place this "|" sumbol.

the only website that's on top of you on yahoo, is on the first position on google also. so you need to beat that one. let's target it, now.

your competitor has a pr5. so you need to get a higher pr than 2 to come close to it, do some link exchange with high pr sites, but the best idea is buy some links on higher pr websites.

pr3 permanant links should be arround $20
    pr4 will be $40,
rates go up on homepage, directory links are cheap, but better buy non directory links. buy links on your topic, it will help more.

the best thing is buy a link on this page:
    hmi-online.com
this will solve your problem, try to get it on the home page,
you don't want to pay 1000$, but atleast 100$ will be sufficient for placing link on the home page of this site. just contact them, and say you want to offer $100, and see what happens, remember am talking about permanant placement.

you have pr2, so you have to pay to place your links in pr4,5,6 sites, you don't have an option.

and when you buy links, use this keyword, "Hotel Management International" for hipelinking back to your website.

Helps you target for a competitive secondary/similar terms with your niche.

edit: if you decide to buy some links, I have an available PR4 home page link. ;)

Intrigued as to why you find that the symbol makes the difference, i.e. not removing it but changing - to | for better rankings

    MarkyMark,

Your problems are not due to on-page tomfoolery (love the word). Your website has about 4 inbound links... This is why Google doesn't particularly like your website.

I do business with several well known travel companies so if you would like some SEO help both on-page and with building links please PM m and I'll give you my contact info.

tomfoolery - word of the day, I used it a lot yesterday in the office. Read some old novels last weekend, and that word got stuck in my head. And now here I see it again.

What kind of tomfoolery coincidence is that.

    Hi Marc,

I know this reply is late but here are some thoughts for you to consider:

    1) What do you do? What service do you provide? How would people find your service online?

In other words, I would start by changing my title tags to how people search.

    Ex:

According to wordze, there are 30,000 searches per month for "remove spyware" and only 3100 for stopzilla (a company that sells spyware removal apps).

So are more people looking for you...or your services? If they are looking for your services, your title tags should reflect that (along with your copy on your home page).

    2) I would add more good text to the home page...the heavy use of graphics is like asking the search engines to freestyle rock climb up a smooth wall...there's nothing to get a good grip on to get things rolling.

    3) I wouldn't spend 2 seconds worrying about the pr of the guy in front of you. I would focus on developing solid backlinks from established sites that are related or at least strong directories like business.com - One of my business sites is 6th on google for its primary search term - a term my competitors pay $15-$20 per click to google on adwords. the site fluctuates from the 6th to the 3rd spot. my pr is 2. EVERY site behind me has a higher pr (currently, the bottom 4 on the page are pr4, pr4, pr7, and pr5 - the 5 above me are pr6, pr2, pr3, pr2, pr2)..some of my competitors are HAEVYWEIGHTS..and they are behind me.

    4) Add some time to your domain. And if you want to be found for the term Hotel Management International, then register that domain.

That's not a complete plan but that should be enough to get you started down the right path. Post back with your progress if you get time..I'd be interested in hearing how you are doing.

How old is your site? It may take a while before top search engines will rank it. Just keep on doing what is right for the site.
