You can try to submit your site to free directories,I know most free dirs won't accept your site though.

Personally if it was me I would take off all of the AdSense from the site before following the advise in this thread. If you are going to spend all that time promoting it and getting in the punters, it would be a shame if they didn't stay because of the adverts.

Instead build up a loyal fan base who keep coming back for the content. Then once you get over the 500 uniques a day mark, start incorporating the ads back in.

Also ad free sites generate more links (people feel better linking to non monetized sites) which can mean better rankings and more uniques.

There is no special megic formular to get the blog promotion! Apply the same tactics to that you use to promote your other websites.

Claim it on Technorati, Ping pingomatic or pingoat after posts, and just keep writing content. Do this and the SE's will start visiting and hopefully traffic will follow.

Welcome to the blogosphere! Obviously you're going for those high-paying debt consolidation ads, right?;) If you want to promote it, you can check out my blog promotion advice here:

Increasing Traffic Is No Longer A Secret:)

But remember, your blog isn't really unique. There are a lot of other bloggers writing about loan consolidation to get those high-paying ads. Like somebody else here wrote, forget about the ads at the start and try and get a loyal readership.

And are those interested in loan information really going to be attracted to a blog or a more professional looking site?

Not only does a loyal readership come through quality content - but UNIQUE and INTERESTING content. Be different...not just another "lone cloan"!!

Good luck with it!!! Let me know how you go!!:)

hey... thanks much from u guys... I really appreciate it. I was thinking of starting a new blog after I did a little research today and found out so so many professional looking sites. And I strongly agree will building a loyal readership which I would do shortly after this rep. To my concern, would it be better if I register for a domain name instead of the blogspot subdomain?
PS. That was my first website evertho ( Had a bit of background in programming, HTML, lil JAVAscript) but I never really did a website because of college

well what about popularity of it? By this I mean, people who surf the web tend to trust a proper domain name rather than those of a subdomain name.
    whats your say?

Well, people are pretty used to blogspot. I personally don't like it but I'm not sure it would put too many people off. You would have to modify it quite a bit and seeing as how Google can pull it at any time, it is much better to put the work into a Wordpress blog (which is free of course)

For the $8 you save a year, its not worth it

if you are still a student, i recommend you:

    1) article submission
    2) directory submission
    3) exchange link
    4) join forum and put your website address at your signature
    5) submit to social bookmarking sites (del.icio.us, spurl, furl, shadows, simpy, netvouz, blogmarks etc)
    6) pinging using technorati, pingomatic
