What does HTTP status code was not 200 in the PING for Word Press mean?

01/30/07 05:17:29 - http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2 could not be pinged. Error message: “transport error - HTTP status code was not 200”

01/30/07 05:16:47 - http://1470.net/api/ping could not be pinged. Error message: “transport error - HTTP status code was not 200”

For some of the Ping i get this message what does it mean?
Should i take those ping away ?

 

When a browser or user-agent asks a server for a file (in this case blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2, and 1470.net/api/ping) the server responds with an HTTP status code that provides info on how the request went.

An http status code 200 means SUCCESS, so if you get a message that says status code was not 200, that means the request for the file failed.

Could mean that the file isn't present, mistyped URL, server is down, server is temporarily having problems, etc..

 

So how if this PING is down all the time i should take it away i guess? How can i check if the adress in the ping is down or the server is down or maybe they are blocking me?

 

Goto dnsstuff.com and ping the file.

Yes i understand the problem now but should i delete this pings?

 

What do you mean "delete this pings" ? How would you go about deleting these pings?

If you are using wordpress than you can go into your administration panel and disable pingbacks and trackbacks, and that might stop it.

 

Yes thats what i mean. Have they blocked me or is it just something wrong with them for now?

 

If you can access your site via SSH to get to a shell than you can try pinging from there and it will tell you if its blocked.

I don't know what is going on, you need to provide more info.

have you tried upgrading wordpress to the new version?

Are all those addresses configured in your wordpress admin panel?

Even that is more than I need, really all you need is the first one, rpc.pingomatic.com, because that one automatically pings all the other services for you. I would recommend shortening your list dramatically.. good luck!

 

Why do they give all this list then if you not need them?

 

Its outdated... Most of these lists were pre- pingomatic
