My website is www.pbcapitol.com I get 50,000 hits a day 10,000 page views a day 200 unique visitors a day yet im only making cents a day(mainly from impressions not clicks). Its been up for a while and im not seeing any improvment. Any suggestions. Like colors, placement. Thanks all, Jonathan
im thinking of adding adsense after the first post in the each thread. What about the colors? any suggestions.
It's because it's a forum, as simple as that. I have a site with 25 times more visitors than your site, yet I don't bother to put any ads on the forum. I don't think it's worth the slowdowns or the risk that frustrated members who get pissed start clicking the ads. And as for your 200 visitors; it's useless traffic. Most of it are returning visitors and returning visitors easily become what we call "ads blind". Now if you would have 200 visitors coming from Google instead, ok then you will see an improvement, but only a very little one, but now... nah... totally useless, not even with returning 10,000 visitors you will make a lot a of money. Most people who visit forums spend too much time on chatting (like me), when they're actually should be making money. These are not the kind of people who are eager to buy. My advice; get a real site with a lot of search engine traffic and be forever happy. Also ask yourself who have more money in their pocket and more freedom to buy; 15 year old kids playing paintball or 30 year olds and older with a good job and great carreer. I'm sorry, you target a very young group, so you get what you're getting now, which is not a whole lot.
Forum usually have very low CTR but 0 click on daily basis is bad. Why not put adbrite on header? Sometime you can double your earning with adbrite
wm007, Your lack of knowledge amuses me. If you knew anything you would know that I said 200 unique visitors a day. That is NOT RETURNING MEMBERS! My members are of all ages, most imbetween 18-40. You dont get a site just to make money. This is a hobby. I also make plenty of money from having people pay $10-30 to become supporting members. Dont be so fast to judge. my ctr is good and i get some clicks. just looking for advice to the placment and colors. Not looking to change hobbies or make a site on something I dont know just to make a quick buck.
I don't have experience about the forums site before but for me, I will put ad before first post. see ad first before see first post, it should help to make more click. hope it help.
Actually it's me who laughs about your lack of knowledge. Where do you read that I talk about returning members on the same day? Let me explain it to you, because you obviously don't understand how a forum works; forums aren't successful when members join, post, leave and never come back. Forums are successful when members return. This can be 1 hour later, 1 day later, a week later, whatever. Those are returning members, members that are becoming ads blind over time. So instead of laughing like someone who only makes a few cents a day and who tries to make a desperate attempt with capital letters to make a point, maybe you should think before you make conclusions, but then again… as a teenager your parents have always done the thinking for you, so I understand that it takes some time to learn how to do the thinking yourself. Learn to think for yourself and you might...I say might have a top day of $435 like I had in september.... although I doubt it, because no offense...those few cents you make now aren't very promising, right? Sure, there will be a few 25-40 year olds with no life or family who visit a forum about paintball, but most older people don't see the fun of it, for the same reason you don't like what a lot of 25-40 years old like. The majority are young people of which most have little money. I also doubt that any kid with a good income is wasting his time on paintball forums. But hey, what do I know right, all I see on your forum is for example a 14 year old kid who is top poster (read: returning member) with 20% of all posts…. sure, a great candidate for Adsense… I'm sorry, but you ask for it if I'm trying to explain why your Adsense is not a success and all I get is a reply of some dumbass teenager blaming me lack of knowledge for no particular reason. Plenty? You have 123 members and 10 members support you? No to mention that only 28 have posted more than 5 times? Ok, maybe for you that’s plenty of money, for most people it isn’t. It’s also not that these same people pay you every month $10-$30 either… I don’t judge, it’s just that you can’t hand the reality of the facts I’m throwing at you. That’s because you never had a real job, because then you would understand what you have to do to make more than just a few cents. Quick money, that's what most kids of your age think of. Helloooo.... allowance days are soon over, you better find some answers soon.
1st of all. Calm down... you take so much effort and time out just to defend your pride. Wow dude. I bet you didn't know that kids (in America) influence over $130 billion of their parent's spending... annually. Kids also spend $8 billion of their own money. Heh, I feel bad that you haven't been able to see this little market (pun). Kids come to forums to read reviews, talk, and ask questions... A good combination of affiliate links and Google ads will strike rich. Somebody's got to take their $138 Billion dollars, right?
wow. all i wanted to know was about my ad placement and colors. my how threads get off topic. just to answer your previous response wm, i just started the forum back up only a month ago and I think thats pretty good so far. may not be good to your standards but good enough for mine.
i did agree with this tact. the way in putting adsense for forum is different. you may do some research on where adsense ads located in forum (i.e DP). and, you have to change the color of adsense so that it'll be same as the content. put adsense before first post. i agree with this. visitors' eyes see ads first before the post. it will attract them to click then.
There seems to be several factors behind the steep drop in AdSense earnings: The strongest factor seems to be AdSense spammers, junk sites created just for adsense. Adsense ads are created by advertisers who want to sell something. If they find that the clicks on junk site ads do not bring sales, they would either opt out of showing ads on all content sites (good ones as well as junk) because they can't opt out of the junk sites alone. Google gives advertisers the option to opt out of ads on content sites. Another other factor is that Google automatically discounts the prices from sources where it has found that clicks generate low sales. So AdSense site owners get cents now where they used to get dollars earlier. Then there is the wearing off of novelty. When AdSense was new, surfers were surprised at the ads that seems so precisely targeted to their interests. As the novelty wore off, they clicked on these ads less and less. There also seems to have been a concerted attack on AdSense from other merchants, whose earlier affiliate models had suffered when AdSense appeared. It is better not to depend on AdSense as a source of revenue.
yeah I think the same, I found that forums are really, really difficult to get a high CTR on as the users are only interested in what is being offered and going on in the forum and not even thinking of leaving to find something they want as it's already been found at your forum. I would go with something like www.valueclickmedia.com or a similar site to earn a little more from your impressions.
I agree with all has been said about forums nature. I'll try to look at the placement of your ads as a surfer view, I feel that your ads is "out of" the forum ! my eyes concentrate on the center of the pages where the forums are and completely aways from the ads on the left. So i think you should try something to fix this.
