    Hi
My mane is andrena markley and I am working on two mobile related sites. For last two months I am facing some problem regarding ranking and supplemental results.

The domain of the sites are “add it now” (.co.uk)
    “3 contract mobile phones” (.co.uk)
    * remove the spaces

The first site used to rank very good on google but now it is now where in google. The latest PR update has given 3 – 4 PR for most of the static pages but there no change in ranking.

The second site is ranking for general words such as “ mobiles, phones, mobile phones” but it is not ranking for handset specific keywords.
These two sites are part of white label business.

Can anyone put some light on the above mentioned problem.

Your PR (pagerank) has not affect on your actual Google search results.

You need to build backlinks that target the keywords you are trying to rank for.

If you want to rank for the keyword phrase "mobile phones" use that as your anchor text when building backlinks.

Also, PR is updated well before you see it. PR is updated very frequently on internal Google servers, but these changes are not made visible to you until much later.

The handset specific keywords seems to be highly competitive keywords that is the reason you dont rank for these keywords. IMO, you need to include keyword phrases to optimize such keywords/plural keywords and try to get more backlinks from relevant sites.

A lot of people have told me that PR is increasingly decreasing in importance.

Last week the PR from homepage on one on my sites dropped from PR5 to PR4, but lately I have better rankings and my daily visitors have increased aprox 20%.
Maybe Google is downscaling his PR ???

Your rankings use the "live PR", not the old PR in the toolbar

That's why there is no difference even though there is a difference in the toolbar PR - your pagerank never increased, it just got shown to the world

increase in PR doesnot mean increase in ranking even... the alogos for giving of the PR as well as rankign a site on certain keyword are totally dff in all search engines...

well also if ur PR has increased it is so bcoz Google has recently updated the PR of all the websites. thts y u hav seen the increase... but remember increasing PR doesnt mean increase in ranking... there r many websites (tht i hav seen) who njoy gud PR but no ranking in Google on their main keywords....

hence there is as such not much connection b/w PR n the ranking of the site on ur keywords...

    cheers,

PR has no connection with how you rank at the SERPS.

Another reason for your low ranking for certain keywords might be the fact that some of your pages are in the supplemental index. You haven't made it clear in your original post though.

Use solid white hat SEO to build good quality links to those pages, and they will come out of the supp index too.

Nowhere in SERPs with the keyword? Or nowhere with your domain name?

Either way, it is very possible your site is penalized. If you have increased your PR from irrelevant web pages via link exchange schemes and such, Google can drop your ranking at SERPs.

I think the answer is in the backlinks you gained. Check them to see how many are from related websites.
