good SSH client for windows OS

    I Use Private Shell privateshell.com i love it. If your a beginner at going around linux you can secureFTP into your server. Its like windows

    what if I need to enter shell commands, not only tranfer files between windows workstation and linux server ?

    * terminal connection (SSH1, SSH2, Telnet, serial port device);
    * file transfer connection (built-in SFTP client);
    * database connecton (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, DB2);
    * CVS repository access;
    * e-mail server connection;
    * VNC server connection;
    * X11 tunneling;
    * and more.

    It seems Putty doesn't have file transfer capabilities built-in.

    I have to agree with the three posts above.

    My son said Putty was the best of the bunch and free to boot.

    Since I usually feed him and then tell him what I want done I followed his advice. :)

    PuTTY + WinSCP3 , both open source.

    Putty is quite good. Small and workful. As there are not much required to use without connecting to a server remotely so i think putty is the best :)

    putty is ok, but there is something much better.

    SecureCRT is by far the very best ssh/terminal tool I have ever used. It is not free, but it is superiour in every way to putty.

    I use it in my day job, and without this software I literally would not be able to do my job (server and network admin).

    If you are stuck with WindoZe, and need to admin Unix boxes forget putty. I used it for about a year, and after using SecureCRT for a week of the 30 day trial, we told our company to buy it for all of us.

    I use the free putty and what I also do is rename putty.exe to ssh.exe so I can type "ssh" from the command prompt just like in Linux.

    There is a PockeTTY for Windows Mobile Pocket PC, don't need my laptop anymore :)
