What a joke. 66% reduction from before to after audit.

This program in my view is a joke. It is almost laughable that you can lose 66% of your revenue after auditing. They need to get more control over this situation. Imagine Adsense being like this.

    Stats:

    December Earnings Before Audit: $31.45
    December Earnings After Audit: $10.88

    Total audit reduction: $20.57

    Example Days: (Before/After Audit)

    2006-12-28:
    $4.63 / $0.39 = 92% Reduction

    2006-12-27:
    $10.53 / $0.52 = 95% Reduction

    2006-12-25:
    $2.33 / $0.69 = 70% Reduction

    2006-12-11:
    $2.35 / $1.02 = 57% Reduction

At Chitika we like to show our publishers the raw traffic in your account instead of simply taking it away. Other ad services do this, but may call it something else, "smart pricing", etc.

What audits remove is invalid clicks based on various factors:

    1) Your account could have got spammed or something. You should contact Customer support to see if this is the case (since 66% is way too high compared to our averages)

    2) Are there enough clicks such that this percentage makes sense. If 6 out of 10 clicks were invalidated, then its different than 600 out of 1000 clicks being invalidated.

How the hell do you say audit or invalid clicks??? you mean clicks from proxies? or multiple clicks from the same ip in a short span???

If the above is the case CHITIKA should get its act together and do the cleaning at regular intervals.. than waiting for so long.. and saying hey u been audited..

    Its pure bullshit.

There are a lot of factors that go into click invalidation (yes - multiple clicks from the same IP is one of them). In fact, Google has done a great job of documenting a lot of the techniques it uses.

Over the past few months, we have done a ton of enhancements to do as much filtering as possible on a daily basis. However, not all cases can be filtered on a daily basis. And hence we still have to rely on a monthly process (although painful).

"Other ad services do this, but may call it something else, "smart pricing""

So in essense, you're smart pricing without naming it that?

Well I know its quite painfull.. and it takes a lot out of your servers.. but what needs to be done, needs to be done... period.

A month later if you tell publishers at one go that they are loosing such a huge amount... they feel like shit... small amounts are ok.. but not one big drop.. Just a suggestion.. think you guys can improve a lot :)

I applied for chitika once long back.. and got disapproved. I liked the way you guys display the ads.. and I know it will get high CTR.. but u need to think of the publishers too.. you cant be too advertiser centric.
