Its pretty clear that you aren't the smartest most open minded person ever to express an opinion about a different section of society. Do you have any opinions that aren't based on tabloid level journalism?
Read my rather lengthy post on the previous page. Are you suggesting, that for *all* the posts and information regarding British muslims outright saying on film they want to conquer, take over and kill the non-believers, that my one comment which was covered previously, is the only thing you took exception enough with to make a reply? That's interesting... Being aware is not hatred. Being aware is what people need to be. In your case, you have demonstrated that you absolutely cannot accept such, despite the presence of clear evidence of leaders of mainstream mosques in the UK preaching and calling for the deaths of non-believers. This is denial. In fact, I'd call it "aid and comfort" myself. You are willfully doing exactly what those that would just as soon kill you want you to do. Defend them. Pretend there isn't a problem. Directing your anger/hatred to those who are aware of the problem, instead of those who are *really* preaching the hatred in the first place. You're making them victims and that's exactly what they want. You're already there. You are doing exactly what they want you to do. Defend them. Make excuses for them. Show outrage towards those who are aware, instead of outrage towards those that are actually inciting the violence in the mosques, calling for the deaths of others, preaching hatred of Christians and Jews. So don't included "me" with your "us." You seek to do exactly what this filth wants you to do. And you are willfully doing it on your own free will. That's the scary part. You wouldn't say that to a real terrorist. But let a white kid dress up like one of your buds, and you have some bads word to say. But with real terrorists? Never a bad word...
Is that your latest excuse for dismissing this issue? Pretend it's "tabloid" journalism? So you accept and agree with UK muslims that want to take over the UK and are willing to help them?
Reading this thread made me think about some suggestions from: http://obsessionthemovie.com/whatwecando.htm On this thread there were already good thoughts on what the government can do, but this is a list of what the average citizen can do: Media Become informed, and help inform others Get clear on what is happening in the world by reading a variety of reputable sources. Monitor your campus and international newspapers for bias and misinformation, and alert others when you see it. When you see news stories that provide excuses for Islamist terror, or that reflect an anti-Western bias without showing the whole picture, organize a letter writing campaign pointing out the mistake. Groups like Honest Reporting can help provide tools for recognizing and responding to bias in the media. (It's also great to send praise and thanks, as well!) See how the Arab and Iranian media present events. There are several organizations providing important translations: MEMRI and MEMRI TV Palestinian Media Watch IMRA SITE Institute Check out what's being said. It's a real eye-opener! Send letters to editors and write op-eds, about radical Islamic incitement, misinformation, and the threats to our shared ideals. Start a blog, or feature some important links on your page at MySpace and Facebook. Politics Help ignite your elected officials Your views as a citizen are important to your elected representatives. Organize letter writing campaigns to your elected officials raising awareness about Islamist incitement, and encouraging them to be pro-active about the issues. You can write a short, personal email with a subject line like: "Thank you for standing up for Western ideals." When you see legislation that benefits radical Islamic groups and terror supporting regimes, but does nothing to help the populations being abused by them, help your friends and colleagues write letters to your elected officials, telling them to oppose such legislation. Volunteer for a campaign, and raise this issue to the candidate you are supporting. Campus Engage and educate the people at your university Many college students have found themselves under the gun by professors and student groups who attack their ideals, Western foreign policy, and similar. Often, the other side of the story is underrepresented or misrepresented. When you see these kinds of things going on, you can join with other students to effect positive transformation, and work to foster a true free exchange of ideas that is stifled by this kind of bias. Some organizations that can provide information, resources and useful links are: Campus Watch Academic Bias Students for Academic Freedom Hasbara Fellowships The David Project Stand With Us Campus Set up a table on your campus, and distribute information about this issue, including articles, talking points, and visuals. Engage and encourage student organizations – student government, College Democrats and Republicans, cultural organizations - to condemn radical Islamist incitement, and the threats to our shared ideals posed by inaction and lack of knowledge. Host a dialogue or debate that will help inform people about the issues. Community Help build grass-roots awareness where you live Point out hypocrisy when you see it. When various organizations protest alleged desecration of the Quran, but ignore physical violence by Islamists against Christians or others, stand up and say something. Write letters to the editor. Organize a sit-in outside their offices, and invite your local TV News stations to come and watch. Moderate Muslims: Create watchdog groups monitoring what is being taught and disseminated in mosques, schools, and local and national organizations. Work together to keep hate-propaganda out of your communities, and guarantee that the values which are important to you, are taught and upheld. For more information on promoting peace and tolerance, and combating radical infiltration into your communities, contact groups like: Free Muslim Coalition Against Terrorism American Islamic Forum for Democracy Pakistan Today / Council for Democracy and Tolerance Italian Muslim Assembly Islamic Supreme Council of America Campaigns Get involved with campaigns about issues important to you Is there an issue that's important to you, like child abuse or women’s rights? You can find a campaign and get involved, or even start your own! If you're horrified about the culture of hatred being taught to children in certain parts of the world, then check out Teach Kids Peace. TKP encourages the promotion of peace education for children in conflict zones, through raising public awareness, and calling on world leaders to take action to prevent this form of child abuse. If you want to respond to the treatment of women by radicals, then you can get involved with groups like: Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, Surgir – Lives Lost Lives Found Progressive Women's Association - Islamabad, Pakistan The Waris Dirie Foundation These groups can also provide valuable information and resources for your own campaigns. Begin a “shared values†campaign, encouraging peaceful coexistence among the diverse peoples in our global (and local) communities. Most of us share many of the same ideals. By raising awareness about the beautiful things we have in common, we can stand firm against threats to those ideals. Host an Event Show Obsession or other important films, with a post-show discussion to help people think about the issues. For more information on hosting an Obsession screening, contact us at: . For information on hosting an Obsession screening on your college campus, contact us at . Other important films you can show include: Iran Undercover: The Hidden Revolution In the Name of God Jihad in America Relentless Lifting the Veil: Zarmina's Story Bringing speakers to your campus or community, to help educate, and engage others in a healthy debate. Organizing a peaceful rally or vigil on the issues of relevance to you. Think about what's important to you Spend some serious time thinking about the values that are important to your community. For example: education, justice, equality, and social responsibility. Why are they important? How do we express them? Discuss them with your friends and colleagues at school and in the workplace. If you're a parent or teacher, engage your children in ways that will encourage them to think about our shared values, and some of the ways different cultures around the world express them. Live what's important to you The biggest defense against this threat is to stand strong, and strive to bring these ideals into our lives. We should be as equally zealous as suicide bombers, to choose to live lives of truth and meaning. Remind yourself daily that you can distinguish between right and wrong, and you're not being intolerant or narrow-minded. One can be open-minded and still recognize that some beliefs and actions help destroy the good we have struggled to bring into our beautiful world.
why does gtech link to his own posts anyway? its like here is the proof what I am saying is true .... here is me saying it again!
I think all this boils down to the fact that religion is still a part of society today, and is still causing the same tensions it has done for thousands of years. Why? It's simply a tribal thing - the Muslims hate the Christians, the Christians hate the Muslims. Is there any point? No, because we are all flesh and blood at the end of the day. Is any religion more valid than any other? No. They're all a waste of time. What can possibly come from holding faith in something that cannot be proven or justified in any way? In fact even further than that, religion has perpetually changed its story and stand points throughout the years to accommodate new scientific developments that don't quite 'fit in'. Despite this ever changing face of faith, people are still willing to die for the cause - what God could ever have wanted that? In my experience, religion is never taken seriously, and those that do profess their faith are of a dying generation, or alternatively want to seem intellectual by implying they have considered theology from all angles. Hopefully religion is on its last legs, and we can start treating fellow human beings with dignity and respect regardless of colour or background, and stop all this madness in the guise of religion and faith.
I just saw a CNN specials on Muslims in the UK and how they want to build a mega mecca but many are opposed to it.
I honestly doubt that all muslims are like this as I have a few friends who are muslim, and they always tell me that they think the people who do stuff like that are crazy. Every religion has a select group of people that do "crazy" or "radical stuff," nothing out of the ordinary for me.
where were u when uk was trying to take over india and other many countires.. including america. in 1947 they seperate india.. divide and rule
Personally, I wasn't born. But now that I am, I am a vocal critic of my government's (US) military action.
I take offense to that comment about the UK trying to take over other countries. It's OK to look back and say how we raped the world and were terribly horrible people... but you mightn't be in a position to freely express your opinions if it weren't for the British empire. You really shouldn't judge the European empires when you are living in a world where our security, prosperity and liberties have been secured by them. What does the muslim empire bring? Religion and cultural endoctrination - and lawyers and pressure groups who try to destroy western free-speech. I like a lot of muslims, but I really hope the chinese start pushing their weight around to protect us from this threat!!!
Its not free speech in America. If you say you are going to blow yourself up, you will be sent to G-Bay
theres not much argument here.. the point is even if you say a section of islam is evil and that section is relatively small (but numbers wise still big) then those extremist need to be dealt with , with an iron fist, no buts.. seperate the non-extremists with the extremists and just take out the extremists... and all your problems will be solved.. BUT the issue here is, many NON-extremists dont want to be seperated with the extremists, since they may think extremists are crazy, but they are still their brothers, and many if have to choose a side, from white christian dominating powers (UK AND US) , they choose their taliban buddies so, the onus is on the liberal non-extremists to make the next strategic move...
I agree wholly with your post, Ash1. However, when I read stories like this, I wonder what defines "extremist." Lashes for dancing? This state still has in place a religious police force, like many others. Until that type of thinking is eradicated, I fear, nothing will change.
That is incorect. Christians do not hate, we do not condem those who believe differently, unlike the muslim religion, our bible teaches us to love those who hate us, you wont see any christian holding a sign which reads 'kill those who appose Jesus'.
And this whackjob group is as in line with Christ's message as is Christian Identity. This son of a bitch also likes to taunt bereaved families at military funerals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_Phelps Really popular guy. "100 members, 90 of whom are related to Phelps through blood or marriage or both." If there is a hell, a special room is prepared for him. Nothing to do with Christ's message.
