my first humor site (http://www.laughingacres.com) 1. 9000+ jokes (bought database from a dp member in a dp sales thread) 2. skin adapted from an indexskins theme 3. fully css + template based 4. mod-rewrite done all feedback appreciated.
kool color and theme... liked it very much... and good jokes also.. but i think it needs some more graphis.. also the banner needs some change i think.. its too small in height... but still looks good.. best of luck mate...
To small font, difficulty read on my screen with 1920 × 1200 native resolution on 24.1" monitor. With firefox I see double background footer.
site looks very clean and simple. you need to change font its difficult to read on eyes. overall site found good to me.nice theme and interesting stuff.
Looks like your footer which tells about the design overlaps the copyright one, but overall, nice work!
ah ok! fixed the footer... works on ie but screwed up on ff. ff's really strict and difficult to please. anyway, it's ok now. thanks for the feedback. any more?
For some reason it feels like one of those Made-For-Adsense sites. Maybe the spacing between links is too big or something? I wouldn't spend much time on the site, just because it doesn't have that captivating feel/design. But if you're just looking to pull people in via Google, it's more than fine. BTW - how much did you pay for the jokes? Some of them are pretty good.
While it works well as an archive/database of jokes, the design is far too simplistic and cold to inspire people to return or even stay for long. The content is too spread out, consider bringing all the content closer together to give it more presence. Adding colour and more imagery will help too. Also, theres a typo in the banner.gif, "Come one over"
ok - thanks for the constructive feedback. also, i really overlooked the mistake in the banner - thanks!
It has good content, but I think a joke/humour site should have a warmer feeling to it. Add color and imagery to induce people into a happy mood. Also, is it really necessary to have categories like "Ant" and "Rabbit"? Maybe it makes sense to condense some of the categories into a common category.
I agree. The site looks ... like it would be suitable for a professional site.. but for a humour site, maybe something more fun? (using solid colors instead of a gradient + a cartoon graphic(s)
