Hi, I am really trying to get my site up within the first 100 entries of google and a lot of people say that article writing is the best way to do that. I was wondering how do you get started into article writing, what sites offer free article submission and where can I find more information on article writing. Any advice and help is welcome. Thanks.

(I wasn't sure if this thread should be in content or SEO so mods feel free to move it)

Follow these simple guidelines to get the best acceptance rate at article directories:-

    1) Make sure your article is informational and not simply a marketing article or press release of your website or company.

    2) Your article needs to be atleast 500 words. 75% of all article directories will delete your article if its less. Max should be 2500 words.

    3) Dont put any links in your main article body. Again 75%+ article directories reject articles with links in the body. Links should be kept in the About the author section or resource box.

    4) Write a nice 4-5 line summary or description of your article. This will get most users to click on your article.

    5) Make the title of your article catchy and about 100 characters.

    6) For SEO, you need to make sure the keywords you are targetting appears many times in your article. But at the same time the density of the keyword shouldnt be more than 6% or else you could get penalised by google if they think you are trying to cheat the system.

Also try submitting articles regularly. The same article with same content appearing in multiple directories wont help in SEO in any way. You need to have multiple articles with different content and then it could really help in your SEO efforts.

    Good tips Utopia78

    I'd also add the following...

    1) Make sure your keyword phrase is in the title

    2) Make sure that your link in the author bio section is in full http:// format as well as a keyword link

    3) Try submitting your articles to just Ezine Articles and the iSnare distribution service. That should save you time & give you good coverage.

They get distributed to other article directories. I dont go overboard on submitting articles to many sources. Id expect webmasters to use several sites to get their content from, so they should be able to find your articles even if they are only I few directories.
