I'm using AdBrite right now, but I haven't sold any ads, and the network ads aren't contextual, so I'm not getting any clicks at all, and I want to also sign up with Adsense, (which I know allows Adbrite on the same page). The problem is that my site (which is http://master-of-metal.blogspot.com) offers free music downloads. I do have a disclaimer stating that the downloads are for previewing purposes only, users should delete the files within 24 hours, and that they should go out and buy the albums if they like them, but I'm not sure if this would keep Adsense from rejecting my site. I've seen similar blogs (with the same download methods, similar/same albums available, same disclaimer, and way more downloads available) that have Google Ads and even Amazon ads, so maybe the disclaimer will keep my site from being considered to "promote illegal activities," but I just to make sure before I screw up my relationship with Google and other PPC companies.
Hmmm i dont know any of the bands in your site but if the music is in any way copyrighted then you'll be rejected. The disclosure wont save you. As for the similar sites you see - their owners most probably have other legal sites that got them into adsense (once you're accepted you can put those ads on some of your other websites) and thats how they have ads on those sites.
what you have is a warez site. a disclaimer means nothing.you dont have permission to offer the downloads. you cant have adsense and if blogspot finds out they will close your account.
That makes sense. Well, I do have a legal site, (though I've barely touched it as I've had my hands full with my metal site), so I guess that might work, but Google would probably find out, wouldn't they? I'd probably better not risk it. Even blogspot would close my account? Are you sure? There are a whole lot of warez sites that use blogspot. I mean, literally, there are hundreds. Some of them I know have been up and running for quite some time, so blogspot must not spend very much time investigating sites' content, if they do care.
have you read the TOS? no they don't check every site, maybe none of them.not even real web hosts check every site, but when a valid complaint comes in, the account gets suppened. i have a site that is similar to a bittorrent site.it had adsense on it for a year, before the site got banned.
post youtube videos of the same metall bands instead of offering downloads and you have your problem solved
You can download them, but Youtube itself doesn't offer downloads, they come from 3rd party sites and applications (javimoya.com, youtubegrabber, firefox plugin) that sniff out the URL of the actual FLV files that are embedded in the page. I don't think having Youtube videos would get me banned, but I'm going to do my best to continue running the site as is, I just won't use AdSense, I guess. What about those that get AdSense for a legit page, but then use it on a page with copyrighted materials? Is there a high possibility of getting caught?
Youtube videos will certainly be aproved by adsense Google is the owner of Blogspot.com, Youtube.com and AdSense! If you use youtube videos on your site there is no reason on earth for google to bann you ! Your site is about music and will surely be well accepted and appriciated by Google !
Actually, my site provides free downloads for full music albums (or more specifically, metal albums). I meant that although the Youtube thing wouldn't get me banned, I'm going to try keep the site as is (offering album downloads). I may do the Youtube thing as a last resort, if I do get threatened with suspension or being banned, but I think I'll be fine if I stay away from AdSense.
