    700mhz processer
    30gb hard drive
    emachines purchased in 99/00

Now once you are finished laughing could you please provide me with any adivce before purchasing a new pc from dell or do you think I should purchase from else where, is there any coupons etc?

I bought my last couple of computers from dell (desktop and laptop) and have no complaints. You get a decent system for good money if you know what you are doing.

Do a search for coupons on google or somewhere, they will save you a ton of money. I got my desktop from dell about 18 months ago, did a quick search for coupons before paying and found one for 30% off. I saved a good $700 for 5 minutes of searching.

I bought 3 systems from Dell over the years and have been satisfied with their quality and service. Only thing left to do is find a discount like Ratty mentioned. Great systems IMHO.

Check out this site, there's a bunch of links with Dell deals: http://www.gotapex.com. I've got no affiliation with that site, I just stop in there from time to time to find deals on stuff.

    A) really shop around for deals as mentioned above
    B) buy the PC that fits what you are going to do...
    C) don't worry about Vista for right now, stick with XP, as it is more stable
    D) shop their re-manufactured list...it updates daily, but they are still great PCs that have never been used, come with the same warranty as new ones, and are a fraction of the cost...I have a re-manufactured PC, and it has lasted me 5 years.

Last year HP took over Dell to become the No.1 PC manufacturer in the world. There must be a reason why Dell fell to No.2. You might want to check out HP computers too :D

Sorry, I guess all of you are brainwashed! Advice before buying from Dell? Buy from someone else! You should get your PC custom built, I paid 400£ (800$) to get a PC that sells from dell for 650.

If you don't need a LCD and don't mind using a pirate windows, build your own. Otherwise, the price will be around the same at last

I say pay for Vista, it is rather cool :p Just the Point Alto if that this was done by a speech recognition is not my spelling mistakes, which windows is not very good at it. Maybe it will improve over time. And I feel somewhat stupid talking to myself! It is improving to be honest, which is good in my opinion! I wonder if he knows how to say farc, guess not!

Last summer I bought a DELL laptop and I'm happy with it. Very fast and not much expensive.
The only complaint is for the transport dealer (DHL in my case), because it didn't sent any SMS previously, and so that day I couldn't get it, because I didn't stay at home.

My husband bought two pc from dell, a toshiba laptop and a dell desktop, I really wished that I got a dell instead of hp I'm not very happy with it. My husband's pc is super fast to think that our specs are almost the same. Go with dell I also recommend circuit city, they have great service too, I always shop there for electronics stuff, with dell we only purchase it online, because there are no dell shop near our vicinity you need to drive hours or more . Good luck on your purchase :)

If you're planning on buying a laptop, don't buy from Dell. The desktops however, are solid and cheap

In canada we can shop at www.dfsdirect.ca, which is Dell's open-box/end-of-lease site, for huge discounts. See if they have the same where you are.

If you have to have a PC, go with HP

Otherwise, give Apple a shot ;)

i have bought a dell desktop and laptop from dell, they have both been fine & delivery was only 3-4 days which was great. however don't rely on them if your laptop suddenly breaks. i had paid for the 3 year service thing, and they told me i was going to have to pay another 150 euro for someone to come out to fix it even though that was included in the original cost. grr!
i fixed it myself in the end, it was actually simple.
