customizing HTML links ? ok or forbidden ??

    hello DPers !
    my first post !

    newbie question :

    i just got accepted by CJ and i run several travel sites about various destinations running adsense.

    i want to sell Lonely Planet guides since many readers asked me about which best guide i suggest.

    from CJ i've been accepted by lonely planet and they have some banners and links.

    question : the link for their best seller HTML code is like this :

    <a href="http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-<MY CJ-ID>" target="_blank">
    <img src="http://www.lduhtrp.net/image-<MY CJ-ID>" width="468" height="60" alt="Lonely Planet Online Shop" border="0"/></a>

    issue :

    1) the link lands in Lonely Planet Shop, I want it to land in the LP guide for <country xxx>.

    2) the image sucks, i want the cover of the book for country xxxyyyzz.



    question :

    1) can i CUSTOMIZE the link or all i can do is to link to the LP shop ?

    2) can i host my own image on my server or i must use their crappy image (or banners, crappy as well) ?

    3) will they track my ID if i customize the code ? will i get paid ? or they'll claim i did something wrong ?

    Yes you can,

    you need to keep at least the:

    http://www.anrdoezrs.net/click-PID-AID

    to have your commission tracked if a sale occurs

    No sure if you mean about customizing the image as well - Do you mean you create you own image creative? Different from the advertiser image? You will need a approval from your advertiser to do that, this involves trademark, etc.

    To store the image on your own server is not a problem, if you do not use the:

    http://www.lduhtrp.net/image-PID-AID

    you will not have impressions and CTR% statistics, but this may not be a problem as most of all don't use it - the important stats are clicks, EPC, $$, etc...



    They don't care how you use the link, the technically details changes are not a problem. They know that you like to change it to do your things - just don't do some like promoting using SPAM or having illegal stuff on your site - You are free to customize it.

    Yes, but PID and AID are numbers, PID is your Website ID and AID is the Ad Id

    Question/suggestion: why not use the amazon associate program instead/also, since that makes it pretty dang easy to pick a specific title and displays the correct cover...
