I expect that guy to have had a well paid job got fired, and later got 60%-90%(or whatever the unemployment support is in Portugal) of his old wage.

    Long live the unemployed!

I expect this to exclude illegal aliens(Which I assume that you have a lot of, in California).

Not in his case because he was receiving from Social Unemployment not just unemployment. The difference is that for Unemployment you receive 70% of the last 10 employed month’s salary and has a maximum duration of 18 months. To receive the Social Unemployment there’s no duration limit and you don’t have to look for a job. Basically any lazy, drug addict, criminal is eligible for Social Unemployment.

In Europe a woman lost her unemployment check because she refused to accept a job as a prostitute. I can’t remember if it was in Germany or Sweden but it happen. Because prostitution is legal the job offering was legit and she must accept the job or loose her unemployment checks.

wow you guys do really miss the point of welfare, and all it's aims, you also dont se how you cant all be rich, no matter how you try to make it sound so simple, you are not going to get rich from selling hotdogs or flipping burgers, and yet you need the people that take the low paid jobs to make your middle class life that little bit nicer.
think about it, everyone is succesful in education, where are the well paid jobs for them all? you have a limited number of Dr's needed so everyone cant be a Dr, same with lawyers, you need the poor people to do the crap jobs that others wont, so give them a little boost for taking the crap paid jobs and help make them feel a little better about doing a job as it is better than doing none at all,
and if people are disabled, do you think they need to be wiped out by the state to save you a buck or 2 in taxes?

intresting, but she turned down a job in a sex related bar, thats not turning down a job to give guys a blowjob or other sexual services, they cant force us to work topless or naked or to sell ourselves for sexual services, you'll find that this is soon ammended and no-one will be forced to take such a job, taking coats in the hat check stand in a brothel is not the same as selling ya ass for sex.

Yep I remember that story too.

Not sure where you see that in the story. The story clearly says that she turned the job down for doing exactly that - the available job was as a hooker in a brothel.
