They are good, I have the pro version but my brother has the regular. YOu can find a better place for it like apple its cheaper like 200 dollars cheaper for that price you can get the black version. Also if i were you you should get 2gb of ram in the future. I think that comes with 1gb so you should be alright.

I'd go for the MacBook. It's an amazing machine. I don't have one, however, many of my friends have them and they really do scream. I saw a comparison between the MB and MBP and the only main difference between the two is screen size, and video card. Speed wise they are relatively close.

Cory, that's a Canadian site, the price is in CDN. I know apple gives discounts for students, but it's too much of a hassle.

I would. The battery life is amazing compared to other laptops. (ideal for school) I got a toshiba, but now regret it because.. the battery only lasts 2 hours!

The macbooks battery life is great compared to most others.. but once you've been using it for a while the battery life does fade.
I know with my ibook I used to get 3.5 hours, now only about one hour.

Unless you need a high end graphics card to play games there is very little difference between the Macbook and Macbook pro. I got the cheapest MacBook, the 13".

I recommend maxing out the memory and putting in the full 2 Gb.

It works great and I can use Windows in a window with Parallels for the odd occasion when I need it.

I agree. I went with the 2 gigs of memory on my MacbookPro, and it works flawlessly.

FWIW to Mac users out there, it runs about 33% faster than my iMac with 1 gig of memory.

I have not observed a big difference between my MacbookPro (2 gigs RAM) and my iMac (1 gig RAM). The M'Pro is a bit faster, but both are lighting fast.
