Hello! I have a photohost with a lot of visitors that watch pictures in a special niche. Lets say the niche is cars. But at the image page, my adds are displaying things like "Opensource FTP" and computer related things. So my CTR is at 0,05%. All the images addresses are like site/v.php?id=filename.gif. I noticed that if I make it something like bmwcarsfilename.gif the adds will be about cars instead of computers. Do Google allow me to random a word from my niche and put it infront of each picturename, to get more relevant adds? If they do, I belive my CTR will increase, a lot! Kalle
I don't see why not. They say to use ALT tags. I'd say that as long as the title suits the gif, it should be OK.
Nothing in the TOS about filenames - they should be descriptive and relevent to the content displayed. If that is the case, there shouldn't be any problems. If you try to get 'clever' to generate ads using some high paying keyword list from somewhere or other - e.g. cancerbmwcarsfilename.gif; sooner or later this will result in your Adsense account being suspended for generating fraudulent clicks. Like I say, if the filename is 100% relevent to the picture being displayed it should be fine.
I dont think that u should use adsense on the image landing pages, as there are very high chances of your adsense account getting permanently banned. Since some of the images may be copyrighted images, & if adsense is on a page with a Copyright image, then acct can get banned... & i am sure it is against the TOS.
You can change the image name to something relative to what the pictures represent. If the picture displays a bmw car, surely you can have your picture named bmw. Allso , in order to get more targeted ads try changing your page name to something like "bmw-car-in-photosop", or something like this.
You could also try displaying text, like a description of the picture, pulled from the database as well as the picture. Getting more text content on the pages will definately help you with relevent ads.
Thanks mate, it worked. All the time I used for experimenting a way to show relevant ads, when the solution took 5 secs to do Kalle
Another thing you can do to help with the targeting of ads is to put relevant meta description and keyword tags in the header of your page. May even help with SEO a little bit, but it will definitely help with the ad targeting.
