Am I right in thinking that NOW with pay pal UK you have to basically get a merchant account before you can be verified? I've had done various verification processes: Address confirmation with pin number Bank account where they gave me £1.00 and then I added the numbers into payapl which where shown on my bank statement I've made payments via it. I've recieved one payment and transfered to my bank account. Or should it be verified by now...? Thanks Ian
No, you don't need a merchant account to be verified - there's no such thing as a merchant account. There are 3 account types (Personal, Premier and Business) and you can be verify any of these account types. However, to have access to merchant tools and be able to sell things you need either a Premier or Business account. You can see if you're verified by looking at the top left of your account window where it says status: If it says your not verified click on the blue number in brackets and it will tell you which steps you need to complete.
If you've added bank account and put the amounts paypal sent to your bank in your paypal account (bank verification) then your account should be verified. And you are saying you transfered to your bank account then it definitely means that you are verified BTW you don't need a merchant account to get verified for UK paypal. You can also verify personal account
It's important you realise there are actually 3 steps to verification: 1. Setting up and confirming your bank account 2. Confirming your location 3. Answering the short questionnaire on your PayPal intentions All three parts otherwise no verfication. You need to confirm your location (by telephone/post) as well as bank details.
