Two PR4 MySpace sites

Discussion in 'Sites' started by jhoward, Jan 30, 2007.

    www.findlayouts.info (PR4)

    www.gomyspace.info (PR4)

I'm sick of F'n around with these two sites, so I'm going to sell them. They were my first PHP sites, and I can't seem to figure out how to update them without causing problems. For example, you can see what I mean at www.gomyspace.info. I tried to add the safari scroller to the proper page, but obviously I screwed it up. It's an easy fix for someone who knows what they are doing. When I had findlayouts.info screwed up the same way, the guy I bought them from had it working in just a few minutes. I thought I modified the index file he told me to, but it stopped working, so who knows.

Anyway, they both jumped to PR4 in the last update which is pretty cool. One gets more traffic than the other, but that's only because I haven't been able to promote gomyspace as much as I can't seem to get the scroller on it working right.

Findlayouts comes with the wavy scroller and gomyspace comes with the safari scroller. Both will drive a lot of traffic to the sites. Both were new sites when I purchased as a pair from someone at myspacepros I think.

They're free scripts that he modified. I've had them for a few months, but haven't added any new content other than the scrollers. Since I've had them, I got them indexed by Google and have been getting them crawled regularily.

Both domains are registered at registerfly so free push. I can't move the files, but I'll give you cpanel access so you can get them.

Even though findlayouts gets good traffic, it's not been earning much AdSense. Suffice it to say AdSense so far has been basically zero. Less than a couple of dollars total. I know someone who knows more about these resource sites can turn them into moneymakers. And yes, I know the pictures on findlayouts violates TOS, but I was worried about screwing up the site if I tried to remove them.

Here are some screen captures for traffic.

    Findlayouts hits
    Findlayouts daily
    Findlayouts ref

    Gomyspace hits
    Gomyspace daily
    Gomyspace ref

    Payment through PayPal only.

This is my first site auction, so forgive me if I've missed something.

Bidding starts at $50 for each site.
    Minimum increase $10.

I'll post a BIN now later. Auction ends in five days from now.

    Please PM or post questions.
    Thanks.

I'll also bid for Findlayouts with a revenue screenshot. With that traffic you should be earning something.

Here are the AdSense stats. Please tell my what's going on. I'd love to know why they're not making any more money than this.

Wow are you sure that they're hitting on the pages with adsense on them? Something isn't right..lol Comparing the adsense SS with the hits SS, the low impression adsense days don't even correspond with the low hit days lol >.> Maybe they are directly downloading files?

As far as I know, there are AS ads on every page. the only one I can think of without them is the scroller page where you copy the code after putting in a message. I didn't know how to intergrate that code into the script.

Is there any reason to believe the stats from my host are inaccurate? how can I see about the directly downloading thing?
    Thanks,

How about this - could it be the AS pub id? I don't know enough about these scripts to know, but that would cause the same problem, right? I mean if it was all html, then each add code would need to have my pub id. Now is that the same with PHP? or do you just change it in one place and it filters out to all the pages?

I didn't make the mods myself. I gave my AS ID to the guy I bought them from and he made the changes.

    Just a thought.

I initially set the sites up - they are easy to manage if you are confident with the script. Changes can be made in a few minutes.

Adsense is put in place using the admin area - Adsense is called from individual files depending on placement - e.g. adsense1.html, adsense2.html -- it only takes a minute to alter the publisher-ID.

There's also a custom admin-editor on both sites. It wasn't free when I bought it. Neither was the script.

Yes, I forgot the admin area. I have used it, but had a brain freeze about it now. Also, my bad on the script. I was under the impression they were free scripts with mods.

Anayway, no disrespect meant in any of my posts. You have been more than helpful with all of my problems and I appreciate it very much!! :)

I'm just a typical noob about these sites and I learned quickly that I don't have the time to get up to speed on them. I can handle the marketing and link bulding, but not the technie stuff and that's causing me to miss out on revenue. Of course there's very little cost associated with keeping them, so if I don't get a decent price I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

Thanks again for all you've done mcfox!

Thanks for the offer, but I was looking for more than that given what I paid and what I've added since then.

Since I'm new at this, I'm didn't say anything about a reserve, but I did have a minimum price in mind. I"m not out to rip anyone off, but I do feel that I deserve to get more than I paid for them. After all, I have taken them from PR0 to PR4, added a scroller to each one, and have many, many links on MySpace profiles. And as it looks now, I forgot to mention the admin area that was added by mcfox.

Even though the AS impressions don't seem to jive with the other stats, there is some decent traffic according to awstats.

Hopefully that doesn't rile anyone up. :)

Cool.:D For some reason I thought... well I don't know what I thought. I just need to take a chill pill! LOL

I'll calm down now. I'm just a little nervous about posting an auction on here. As I said I'm new to all this and feeling very out of my element.

    None taken. :)

I thought it worth mentioning there was an admin backend and adsense was easily implemented.

To be honest (and I know this is a sales thread) if the adsense blocks were placed where the scrollers are now you would see an increase in revenue.

    Thanks for your bid mr-space.

    Top bid now 160.

I'm going to try to move the AS blocks as mcfox stated to see if that will improve the revenue. Hopefully I don't wreck the sites! :D

I had typed in a whole long post and then I lost it when I tried to preview. #$*%@#!$

Anyway, I wanted to post an update about the sites I have for sale.

Current high bid is $160 from mr-space.

The few outbound links are just link exchanges so you can remove them all if you wish. The only paid advertising I have done is a few directories and one bulletin that didn't generate much traffic that I could see. Overall I haven't spent more than $30 on promotion. Mainly I've posted scrollers in comments and on my own profiles. A few active MS'ers have used the wavy scroller which has driven a lot of people to the sites.

Here are some screen caps for the crawl rate and query stats for findlayouts.

    Crawl rate
    Query stats

Also, I checked the stats for Feb and according to awstats it got 1019 unique visits on Feb 1.

That brings me to a question. Why does awstats and webalizer stats differ so much.

For example, Feb stats for awstats shows 3633 total hits, 1693 total pages, and 1124 total visits while webalizer shows 4328 total hits, 818 total pages, and 124 total visits. I don't understand this.

I also wanted to post a BIN since I said I would in my OP. Based on the traffic stats and PR ranking I'm going to set it at 275. I realize there's not any revenue to speak of, but as msfox stated, the adsense blocks aren't place in very good spots. I wanted to move them, but these stuff has got me very frustrated. Seems like every time I make a change to one of them, it stops working. See gomyspace for example.

I picked these two sites up to play around with, but since they've given me such aggrivation, I'm selling them so I can focus on the sites I've built from scratch and know about. If this BIN seems out of line, let me know your thoughts. I'm not out to rip anyone off, but I believe these sites are poised to make some good money for anyone who can keep them working properly and optimize AS. They are being crawled regularily and have good SE placement for some search terms, and that's without any SEO on my part. I don't know beans about that topic.

As I stated before, the auction will end at 12:15 AM Central Standard Time on Feb 5, 2007. That's US CST. Since I probably won't be up that late, I'll go by the time stamp on any PMs or posts to determine winner if no one uses BIN. Please ask any questions you've got.

    Thanks.
    Sincerely,
    jhoward
