Why do I get infractions for bumping a thread of mine to the top of the section so it can get seen after it falls off?

I have my SEO Ebook, and want everyone to have a chance to look at it. What is the best way to do it on this forum. I don't want to disobey rules and get kicked off.

    Hi..

Bumping in any forum is a HUGE no-no .. work on other areas.

Lets do this if you are intrested you can sell it or give it away on my http://theebookwriters.com ..if you would like..:)

I can make a nice page to help your cause. :)..I am trying to get more ebooks in the site vs what i have now.

Thanks, I will email / pm you about that. I wonder why forums don't like it? I run a forum and I don't mind at all. I welcome it, I don't get what the big deal is. It cant be using that much bandwidth that it requires a infraction!

The problem is that if your thread disappears onto the second page it's assumed that no-one is interested in it any more (sorry). By bumping you are inflicting yesterday's unpopular thread onto today's unassuming readers. It is also a sneaky way for some users to increase their post count - why do they want to do that? - to get extra reputation and publicity under their belts so they are more successful on here in the future.

It has nothing to do with bandwidth. Just image if thousands of members sat around and bumped their own threads all day. It would be horrible. You actually bumped the thread in question twice. It's in the rules for a reason:)

I understand that, but I did sell several of them. No one posted as I guess they did not feel they needed to. So it dropped off further and further.. Hmm just seems fishy to me. Oh well, I said my peace. Back to SEO!

Nothing fishy - like I said would you want to read threads at this forum that had thousands upon thousands of "bumps"? Of course not.

I have seen people link to their BST threads in their signature - maybe you could try that to help keep it in front of your potential audience. And hey, if it's coverting maybe you could set up a site targeted AdWords campaign and target DP:)

    Bump.....

Sorry I just had to. Ok bumping is wrong as it makes the system unfair. If I just posted something I want to be at the top, where most people look, so in such untill the next topic I am at the top. IF you bump then you push me away from the top, so in turn I might lose sales \ reads but you would gain them.

Well I think Shawn does not allow thread bumping because thread bumps lead to useless posts and the B/S/T section would really be messy.

OK. OK! The OP has learned how things go here and he will abide by the rules now. Let's leave it alone and not make it more than it it is.

    SEOkit,

You can click the red triangle at top left of post and ask the mods to "lock the thread" if you don't want to cop any more flak.

    Col :)
