My first proxy site

    Hello,

I have jumped on the band wagon just because I wanted to see really how successful I can get this in a short amount of time.

    I have a few questions:

Whats the best way of running the CGI Proxy script from when they hit the main domain.

For instance Im running it from /cgi-bin like this:

    http://www.proxyhook.com/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi

NOTE: I just want to point out its not finished. I know the form looks lame!

Should I just use Mod rewrite and a 301 redirect?

Also what do you think of the theme, the domain name and the colors?
Its my first site im going to be using adsense on (for actual MFA purposes)

I feel ashamed for making this proxy site now, but I do like the design non the less, and the gimic I have done with the hook and the penguin fishing!

I do have one additional question. Will sites that are designed, proxy sites that is, make more then the crappy undesigned ones? Or is th difference negligible. I just think a nice design adds to the personal touch to th site.

    Hey Kalyse!

I run 404surf.com which is a PHP for the main domain, and you click a link to lead to the CGI portal. I feel this has brought me the most traffic and revenue.

Yes - design is very important. My proxy network [itunnel.info] mostly all have different designs. A crappy design does not keep visitors. Make sure your hosting is fast too.

Submit your site to around 30 topsites. Although it's a hard thing to do manually [takes 30 minutes] - it does pay off. I started b-ored.com a few days ago, and now I'm getting 1500 uniques PER DAY :)

    Don't believe me?

I've got other methods [secret] too ;)

Good luck. Send me a PM if you need more help!

It is hardly your design. Have you looked at the website? It looks vastly different to yours. I tried to look your website up on waybackmachine but couldnt find it on there just to verify that the background is yours.

Since I want the one who actually made the background I cant be 100% of the source, equally I cant be sure you have just copied it. Im not acusing you, but it has been up there since christmas day.

Non the less the background has been changed the requisite amount. So as to avoid any possible confusion people may have if they think your site is related to mine. (yes that way round)

If you have any futher issues please let me know.

    Thanks!

The design has still not been changed, its exactly the same ripped background just a different colour!!! You know full well how you obtained the background, now please stop pretending and remove the background, thankyou.

If you had more posts here I would take you more seriously, but I dont think you are been true. The guy who did the graphics on the site gave me the background and also the PSD. If you want I can send you the PSD to prove. I would also suggest that you post the PSD in this thread too, to prove ownership.

Are you able to do that because if not I am not going to continue this discussion.

(Additionally, lets hypothesise for a second, if we were huge corps, company A and company B, and you or me, tried to take the other party to court for damages or copyright violation of a background, it would get dismissed immediately.)

I suggest also we take things to a PM.

Although thanks for the bumps. Extra traffic.

Proxies have proven to be a good source of income (atleast for me).

Although don't expect too much traffic from SE's at the beginning. Refferer's should be your first aim and then go for SEO. :)

You can use 301 redirection or can use form spoofing for getting the index file to be associated with your cgi proxy page. Although i really recommend the form spoofing, as most of the people in the market do the same thing :)
