Has anyone ever heard of Joost, apparently it's a live-TV service(with ads displayed every hour or so), also it's from the makers of Skype so I'm not surprised with the "can never get accepted into beta" stuff.....

Anyone here at DP use it, how's it like.......

Also I'd love it if someone would send me an invite to it ( dextrone,no.spam,@gmail.com) (well this thread was 50% a request for a invite and 50% informational :) )

Joost sux. They are not live yet, and they are just testing using some small clips. Its hardware/bw requirement is a joke. Apparently there's a long long way to go before they go live in the US.

Meanwhile Zattoo, more established live P2P TV, is quite popular in Europe, already offering live cable channels.

I have been watching it from time to time. I was hoping for real TV not just individual shows and clips. If you are interested in streaming internet TV you should check out beelinetv or wwitvfor a list of TV stations which stream content on the internet. Interestingly, the UK and China are way ahead of the USA and Canada.

That's because the legal issues behind content distribution are more complicated in North America, esp. compared to Europe. I don't think the content streams from pplive etc (based on China) is legally safe.

The problem is if more people use free tv means slower connections and the quality is pretty damp to be honest i stick with my Sky Box HD "Wooot"

..Good point BUT by then we'll have faster connections and they're trying to overcome the "fiber-optics" challenge.....
