Is this a good idea?

I plan on making a network of car dealer sites. Basically, I want to buy domains of car dealers that never registered their site yet. Then, I'll upload a site with their infos on the site, optimize it to be the first on google for their brand name, and put google ads on the page with my email address.

If the car dealer wants their name, I would sell it to them at high price, otherwise keep the domain and continue making money with it while referring their customer to the right place.

Is this a good idea? D you guys thing it could be provitable?

great ideas indeed..but at 1st are you gonna do it for free or how? and how you gonna let the car dealer see your site

 

I think its very cool idea. If your pages comes 1st at SERP, they will pay for you. Very cool idea.

 

Good idea, seems like a lot of work and also check into the legal issues. Some names are trademarked and you might not be able to use.

 

Why not set up a sample site and contact the dealers about building them a site rather than squatting on their best potential domain?

 

Some dealers do not want to pay a cent for websites. Thats why I would have a plan where I make money with ads, if the dealer does not want to pay

One thing I would be worried about is trademark violation. If the dealers have their name trademarked, it would be a trademark violation to register that domain. The dealer could take the domain away from you.

You might find some people who are willing to pay, but sooner or later you are going to find yourself in court. Especially if you are contacting people and saying hey, I own your domain but you can have it for an inflated price.

I'd say look at the legal issues of it, but sounds like an interesting name to make some money, prove you can do SEO, and get your name out there.

I quite agree. Its very difficult beating the big guy in court.

 

Contact the dealership and arrange that the user of your site can print out a discount on purchasing a new car or receive some special service free if he presents a coupon from your site.

Then request an affiliate or selling fee from the dealer for those clients who use the coupons. Point out to the dealer that you will provide free advertising for him and that customers who come from your site to him will be motivated to buy from him.

But don't offer to sell the domain name to the dealer. Let them make the first advance in that direction.
