SEO certification

Hi, my company requires me to have an organic SEO certification. Personally, I think it's not super important to have a certifiacation, i believe the ranking results could be a good prove of your qualification.

Anyways, i really need to get one. I don't need an expensive one. I have seen some of the sites: http://www.expertrating.com/Search-Engine-Optimization-Certification.asp

    Can someone recommend any?

    Thanks

These seo certification programs are all frauds. The seo filed is an ever changing one, it's like trying to teach someone how to DO the news.

    Thank You

Here's a few credible companies offering SEO certs:

    The DMA
    Bruce Clay
    searchenginecollege.com
    WebCEO

Pick any of those. I don't think you need all of them, just one to prove you are competent.

They're not supposed to teach you anything - just prove that you know about SEO.

It was a good intro to SEO, but I think you ultimately learn the most through hands on experience and DP :D

lol ok all send me $10 ill ask you one question about seo like is it better to have
    a. no back links
    b. what are back links
    c. loads of back links in line with your sites niche.

just answer it correct and ill even print off a dodgy certificate for you to hang on ya wall :D
SEO cert ... roflmao who on ever thought tat up was a genius now if google was offering a cert in it then thatll be worth it but dont bother with mickey mouse outfits offering absolutely nothing worth while and a certificate that isnt acknowledgeable by anyone apart from the script kiddie that issued it :D

a better seo certificate is to have a site that gets to the top of the se with very sort after search terms imoa

Kalena Jordan (head of searchenginecollege.com) is a well respected SEO in the industry, so I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the service. She is actually a member on DP here. As I said, it's a good primer but don't be expecting to rank for porn, pills, gambling terms because you have some certification.

A service and certification are 2 different things entirely
anyone can knock out a certificate but for it to be of any use to you it has to be a certification that is recognised by everyone i.e M.C.S.E by microsoft thats a recognised certification .... well ok maybe not to the penguins but you get my point....

And i wasnt suggesting who ever Kalena is that shes a script kiddie all im saying is there is no recognised certification for seo ;) and if they where by what authority did they come to that conclusion ? Google would surly have something to say to anyone thats suggesting their the #1 in google seo and you can be too if you have this certificate .. as im sure other se would say.

Bingo people. It's all a cash grab. There is no standing body that industry standards are set against. There are simply other SEOs trying to make a few $$$ with so-called 'certification' programs

Show me the SEO standards guide and body - great. There is no formal organization to the SEO industry. That's why it hasn't grown up yet. Makes U wonder about the Future of SEO

    bwaaa ha ha ha ha

Probably there can be no "real" seo certification as there is no standards which you are to correspond to get your SEO degree, but if
as skionxb says, so then they are going to recognize any
As I know WebCEO university provide certificates and their course seems good
