Are you going to buy vista?

I don't think I will. I'm happy with my current one.

 

not at the moment but i might over the summer.

 

I bought a laptop yesterday with vista - so far so good doesn't seem that different from XP - apparently there are a ton of security features, anti phishing etc which may slow things down tho

 

I'll get it when halo 2 PC comes out.

 

i doubt i'll buy it, i know a few people that will, i'll probably borrow and try on my laptop lol

 

Not for the current price and for sure not now. Got to wait for service packs and 150-200 security and bugs patches.

Would not buy it for a price above 75$.

Yeah, not a bad idea. Time to set up dual boot and partition the HD.

 

I think Windows Vista will make a big splash, so long as it easily integrates with all the electronics Microsoft says it will.

I'm looking for a new comp and will most definitely have windows vista on it. just gotta wait for the funds to come through

Till that time some initial issues would've been addressed.

 

Damn I been trying to get my hand on to vista, but sadly it is not available in India - Bangalore yet tried almost every store available online. any idea where I can buy this piece of Microsoft baby? (India)

It's insane monitoring levels and anti-piracy features that slow Windows Vista - and the latter isn't in place for the benefit of the end-user.

In order to prevent active attacks, device drivers are required to poll the underlying hardware every 30ms for digital outputs and every 150 ms for analog ones to ensure that everything appears kosher. This means that even with nothing else happening in the system, a mass of assorted drivers has to wake up thirty times a second just to ensure that... nothing continues to happen [...]

In addition to this polling, further device-specific polling is also done, for example Vista polls video devices on each video frame displayed in order to check that all of the grenade pins (tilt bits) are still as they should be.

Why? I can't understand the rush to get Vista.

It will shut itself down if it thinks it's a pirate copy therefore rendering your computer useless (can't wait for that exploit to be released )

Not to mention the problems people are having trying to use legitimate content.

 

I will wait for another 6 months (until they write quality drivers). my adsl modem is not compatible with vista. tried it with the RTM version

 

Not sure about 6 months.. i figure a year or so will do it.. about that time i'll be slavering over a new laptop.. the one i bought last week has a free upgrade to vista if stories of massive problems and slowness are more exaggerated then i thought.

 

Had no choice. Bought another laptop the other day and had to wait until vista came out to get it lol
