This alone says it all - your 20 blog posts in your niche managed to move your site from page 2 to page 1. As long as the posts stay around the long-term SEO benefits certainly look like it was worth getting the posts. Thanks for taking the time to update this info over thalast week or so, it really does go a long way to validate my own belief that a blog post about a site is an important SEO tool. So, as a blogger, as long as the posts are relavent to my topic, the small amount of traffic to the advertised site is good, but the cumulative long-term effect for the site I am posting about has been demonstrated by your stats.

Since I reported the PageRank of the blogs that posted for me, there has been a PageRank update. Here are the updated numbers: PR0 - 3 <= 9 bloggers PR1 - 1 <= 1 blogger PR2 - 3 <= none PR3 - 5 <= 2 bloggers PR4 - 5 <= 6 bloggers PR5 - 3 <= 2 bloggers There has been a significant improvement in the displayed PageRank. My initial calculation was the postings were roughly equivalent to 3 PR5 sites. Now I would say they were roughly equivalent to 4 PR5 sites and 1 PR4 site.

Very good post. I recently used PayPerPost and say very little return on my $50 dollar investment. I just launched a new campaign with my site in my signature. We shall see how it goes. I will post an update here in three days.

My Analysis 1) I didn't get much in the way of traffic from my PayPerPost. 2) The bloggers often gave me more than the two links that I asked for. 3) Two weeks after the blog postings, many of the links to my website still have not shown up in Yahoo. 4) The blog postings seemed to be the source of a nice improvement in my Google rank for my targeted keyword, from 16 to 9. My Yahoo ranking for the keyword dropped from 5 to 6. I had a small increase in Google traffic, but that was more than offset by a drop in my Yahoo traffic. 5) These blog posting certainly have not paid for themselves in the short term and I have no hope that they will pay off in the immediate future. I am hoping (and it is only a hope) that SEO benefits will pay for the postings in the next year or two. My Suggestions 1) Use a opportunity title that will attract the type of blogger you are looking for. 2) I can not stress enough how important it is that you be very specific about what you want from your bloggers. 3) The text of your opportunity is going to run a lot longer than your blog postings. Type it all out in Notepad first. Trust me on this one. 4) I think it is helpful to give suggestion on how the posting can be handled (option 1, option 2, option 3, ...). 5) Ask for more than one link to your website (you can do that in the description). 6) Ask for PR4+ bloggers. You pay the same for a PR0 as you will for a PR5. In my sample of 20 blogs, 40% were PR4 or better. Had a specified PR4+ it would have taken longer to get my blog postings, but I suspect I still would have been able to get all 20 postings at my offerred price. 7) State specifically what type of blog theme you want. I received a posting from a blog with a very unexpected theme. I never occurred to my that I would have to exclude it. 8) Specifically state whether overseas bloggers can take your opportunity. My opportunity ran into the night US time, so I received a few postings overseas. I complained about one with terrible spelling and grammar, but it was still approved. 9) Set your opportunity to run for months and only request 1 or 2 postings. This gives you the flexibility to ask for more postings if you like what you are getting or pull the plug early if there is a problem. This also gives you the flexibility to have 100 postings over several months if that is what you want. 10) I decline tracking because it does not allow for a direct link to your website. My Opinion If you are looking to generate buzz about you website or product, I think PayPerPost can have a place in a overall website promotion campaign. If you are primary interested in SEO and you are a decent writer, I think you would be better served to pay yourself to write a few articles and submit them to the article directories. So that it! I'm not sure I understand this one. I tried to initially put only 2 postings. Once the opportunity was approved, I can't edit it any more to increase the postings. When I click on my opportunity, I get the following message: How did you manage to increase the number of postings? Have they changed things?
I don't have any opportunities currently open, so I have to draw from my memory. I believe there is a link for the number of requested posts or the linking text. Click that and it will show the number of posts available for each keyword/landing page combination. From that page, I believe you can increase the number of post requested for a specific keyword/landing page combination and/or add a new keyword/landing page combination. I hope that works for you. If not, I would contact PayPerPost and ask them.
Thanks I found where I can change it. You actually change it from the main "manage opportunities" page, not the page for the individual opportunity. A little confusing, but I got it now. Thanks!
