Did I get ripped off?

    Hello.

I dont know wether I should contract Paypal now for a charge back.

About 7-10 days ago I bought 1 link on some guys site. it was suposed to be a PR5. I paid everything fine and he added the link. Then 2 days later the site got turned into a directory and he said simply that the domain wasnt actually his and it got taken off of him and the owner put a dirctory up. We can call this directory X cause Ill be coming back to it later.

Now, when I spoke to him about him he seemed very apoligetic and so offered me some other equivalent value links, but instead of 6 months he said he was keep them permanent because his iTrader rep is more valuable to him. I paid him a little more to get some other links and then once I did this he said that he has another domain that I may be interested in.

He said he would do me a good price for it, the domain was PR6 and said he would give me a year link if I buy it from him. I paid him then he added the link.

I thought it all went through fine, but when I cache:thedomain.com in google, all I see is it pointing to the directory X. I dont see any logical reason to cloak it but also when I goto some Fake PR checkers on google and enter the domain he sold me now it comes back saying that the domain is false and it is actually the directory.

The guy hasnt been on DP in 4 days now, Im not sure if he has made a honest 'deceptive' mistake again, by selling me a domain that looks as though its had its PR hyped up by crude tactics.

Incidentally, I bought this before the PR update. Its since dropped.

Sounds like you got ripped man.

If I were you, I'd OUT the fucker.

I don't really know if thats a breach of etiquette to do that, but it sounds pretty damn shady? There is no way this guy didn't know.

In any case, he should have disclosed the fact that the domain he was selling in the first place was not his.

What can I say more? You were ripped. I would never buy a link from someone totally new. I had see their reps and feedback comments.

    They had 250+ Posts

    And 40+ iTrader ratings.

I am not sure if he is doing this purposefully. I don't want to name and shame just yet anyway cause I did believe he was been truthful originally when the original link I bought got jacked off.

The PR6 link was for a year btw.

Well it seems more like lesson learned. Not to purchase links from sites which are not owned by seller!

Doubtful that anyone on Paypal is going to understand this

Chargebacks with Paypal are more for not getting the product or getting something ridiculous

They do like to favor the seller so you can always try?

I paid with my main business account which has had over 1000 transctions, without a single chargeback, and has 4k every month into it. Surely they would take that into consideration?

I will if the person replies to my email. Its been about 30 hours so far. But the guy hasntbeen on DP for 2 days even before I sent it, so Im guessing he only comes on every so often.

But even so he will have received a PM.

I had bought a directory submission package from a member here, only to find out a day later that his account had been banned. So now he had my money, and had no way to PM him. I sent an email to his paypal ID, but no luck.

A few days later I opened a dispute with Paypal. I got refunded the very next day, so it's worth a try ;)

    Good luck!

An itrader of 40+ is quite a bit. I wonder if he would just spoil it for a few bucks?

But IMO, go ahead and open a paypal dispute.

I would definately opena payapl dispute. The chances of you winning are pretty good as iIMHO payapl alawys favours the buyer. Having said that, whether you get your money back depends on if he has taken it out of his paypal account or not yet. If his balance is 0 then paypal wont reverse the payment to your account.

    Best of luck

You should write to PayPal asap as the other party hasnt fullfilled their part of contract. This is illegal practice and considered breach of Section 58 of the Trade Act

Okay I have opened a dispute.

I wont name and shame, although anyone who does a search for 30 minutes on DP will probably be able to locate who this guy is.

I willl wait another 24-48 hours before I release anything else to give this guy some chance to come forwards and actually help me out here.

    Visit : http://www.theheartwithin.com/

My link is at the bottom of the page. It was a PR6 when I bought it.
Then check to see how many pages indexed on MSN, then also Yahoo...

    Then do cache:http://www.theheartwithin.com/ on Google.

What the hell is happening here?

    Thanks.

By chance are you going to out the person to save others from falling into the same trap. He may be on other forums and in my experience. Once someone is outed on one forum as a scammer, the networking starts and they're found to be doing similar things on other related forums.

Hope you get things resolved. You seem pretty legit from the other postings of yours I've read so it's always a bummer to see good people get taken advantage of.

I was involved in one of these on NP and it turns out the guy was working on DNF, NP, and DS.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention. Hope everything works out.
