wow, I worked with him and he seemed honest.
If this really happened, that sucks
As much the faults of Paypal, its good that they have a way to dispute payments

Yea, at least that way you can make sure that more people know about what happened.

But if it is a respected member you might want to wait a few days as he might really be stuck somewhere.

I belive that the DP admin had nothing to do with this case. They were not involved when the buyer and the seller made the deal. I'ts always wise to use our best judgement, It's a bad thing to know that other members try to rip off others much worse in this community. I really hope you'll get your money back, If it was done through paypal can't you ask for refund or so?

I hope your issue will be solved soon .

It really suck when such thing happen , and you are right you did the good thing by posting this so other know what happened .

if you have all proofs , its your right to defend your self and get your rights .

DP should stop all those scamming on other , exactly as they are doing when someone spam .

The thing that hurt the most is when it happen from a well known person in dp .

because this is business, i advise you to be on a cautious side. here's what i think:

i checked his previous posts. you said "last activity was yesterday." that is a little unreliable in my opinion. an auto-login is called an "activity". my home page is set to DP, so if someone else were to use my PC for 3 days, i will have "activity" for 3 days. i'd look at the last post date instead.

it seems BRUm last posted on 22nd january. if i were you, i'd wait till he makes another post before actually calling him a scammer. a post is definitely an "activity". with the exception of 1/22, it seems that he posts consistently everyday or every other day. so perhaps there's something up.

also, i've noticed that around the time you said you did transaction with him, he posted on the forums saying he is not familiar with e-gold and were asking people for help on using it. just an observation.

i advise you this way because the same thing happened to me. i did some work for someone, without asking for payment first (silly me), and when he got my work, he 'disappeared'. he didn't answer my PM, nor did he come online on IM. i kept an eye on his last post date, which didn't change (although his "last activity" kept updating). a week later he showed up on IM and apologised profusely for his disappearance. it seemed that he went to stay with his nephew for a week to care for him, and that house did not have internet, while his other family members stayed back.

he offered me extra compensation for the wait, which i happily accept. in your case, i agree that BRUm should have paid you back the moment he told you the site was for sale (by the way how come you paid him without knowing he sold the site?) what i'm trying to say is that you need to give people AMPLE chance to respond, because sometimes it turns out worth in the end. who knows, BRUm may end up being your regular client, if you gave him enough chances. :)

Firstly let me just say, reading these messages are quite hurtful...

I, BRUm, am here. I am using my brother's DP account. A full explanation follows:

Goldmon, I'm deeply sorry about the money. To cut the long story short, my DP account was compromised by a third party. I am honest and reliable, therefore this person has tarnished my reputation. Lucky for you, seeing as I'm not a scammer, the money is still in my E-Gold account. I'm sorry for any distress this has caused, I'll send you back the full $200 asap. The PMs you have been sending, and the "Last Activity" you have been monitoring have not been from me - they are the stats. of this hacker. I have been in contact with Shawn and the forum's moderators and they understand the situation. So hopefully soon I'll have my account back. As you can see, my account (BRUm) has been banned to stop any further mishaps happening on the account. On Tuesday the 16th of January, my DP account, Namecheap account, Gmail and Bank Account were all compromised, as I foolishly used the same password for them all. So managing to get my password via SQL Injection was this person's ticket to a gold mine.

Here's the thread I made today to try and finally retrieve BRUm back: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=233492

Please PM me your E-Gold details and I'll send the money back.

    Lee.

Any further discussion about this transaction ( or others involved with "BRUm) should be handled in private. Please see BRUms (Samba99) post above for an explanation.

    Thanks.
