HELP!!! Can't get the header to look right.

Hi guys, I am quite new to this and what would take one of you clever guys a few minutes will take me hours! And even then there is no guarantee that I can do it!

I have tried to customise the header, but i think I chose a background image that was too busy. Turns out that it is a fluid design and needs to have a central background image that duplicates depending on the size of the screen.

It is for a kind of webmaster traffic development forum and I need a suggestion about best solving this problem.

I have tried and for now have just removed the image from it. Are there any suggestions about what kind of image I can put in there to make it look friendly as well as professional. Any ideas?

i dont see any wrong in your header..its ok for me.. but a little bit not contrast between green and blue for ur header..

Thanks guys, glad you like it Does anyone have something that they would like to be picky about? Am always open for constructive stuff. I was going to put an image under the logo, in that header, but kinda like it blank. Do you think it is too plain, or is plain good?

 

On my screen it does look very plain, as if something was missing. I have a widescreen monitor and there is a lot of whitespace. Why is the logo on the right? I'd probably try to move the user login box into the header below the date because it doesn't seem like very much of your forum is above the fold and it's a high page with a lot of forums. Also, why are the last few forum groups Private? Do you have to register to see the posts (if so its not readily apparent; it says 'There are no posts in this forum.' when I click on the forum name).

 

All of that blank space at the top is what I want to fill. Is just pretty difficult. Thanks for letting me know about that message that you received. Yes a lot of the forums are only available to members. If you want to see, you just need to sign up. I;ll have a go at fixing the message now

Yeah, was thinking some kind of pattern, but underneath and with low opiacy. Just need to choose one...

It's too blank.. I need a kind of picture, underneath the header, ie. in low opiacy... just can't decide what to put in there. It just lloks a bit blank..

 

- the text on your main logo is too dark, choose a light, brighter blue and green. Maybe a little glow or drop shadow.

- Don't use any pictures in your main banner, put your company slogan in the middle in a nice roman or Serif font.

- or underneath the logo draw another element similar to the clock/time element and put text over it like '12,200 posts since 2006'

- site has too much dead white space(green in this case), creating a boring feel to it. try making the boxes smaller or closer togather and forum topix text larger and bolder.

Thanks for your suggestions I don't know how many of these I'll actually be able to implement - since I am terribly unskilled at the coding and design side, am better with the basics... Will have a try and get back to you
