Sig links have very little value in Google. Why would Google value a link that anybody could create?

Anybody know any good seo's who value sig links?

The site will be indexed - sig links are good for that.

Actually my profile is PR2, and some other peoples are PR3 + 4, purely from the links on this forum

If these links had any real value everyone would be doing it. Any one can register and the post in tons of forums.

The reason hardly anybody does it because it does not work.

Again, look at the profiles for proof. They get PR and they are nothing but links on the forum ;)

    Nice experiment.

I say it will take a few days for Google.

I suggest after a couple of months to actually remove the link from this forum signature to see how negatively it will affct the ranking.

He's testing how fast the site gets indexed with just forum links. Obviously not a controlled test, but a valid one nonetheless. If you're saying that the site will not get indexed with just forum links, then let's hear it. If you're saying there is not any value in getting indexed quickly, let's hear that too.

It's not a test on how strong forum sig links are, just if they can get something indexed.

I don’t know anybody that has a link to there profile from there signature file links. I guess that PR is coming through the forum. I don’t know much about forums - I have never had to set one up.

I have been doing SEO for about 4 to 5 years. Signature file links used to have an effect before the Florida update a few years back. If signature file links did have an effect then all seo's would be doing it. Can you name any respected SEO that recommends signature files links as a link building method?

This experiment has been done before on a few other forums. If I remember right the outcome was they have an effect in MSN, possibly in yahoo and no or little effect in Google. As I said before they will help get your site indexed.

This is experiment is worth doing because I believe it will confirm what I have said above. You will need to post the signature in other forum though.

There is a link to your profile on every post you make.

So you are saying that because you have been doing it for 5 years, you can't learn anything new, or that things may have changed since then?

Nowhere on the internet is my profile linked to except from every post I make, and its PR2. Many others have PR3

I am not sure that drop down menu link to your profile is spiderable. Someone with experience of this forum may be able to tell us more on this.

I am still learning everyday I do SEO. If you believe signature links are valuable all I can do is say I don’t think this is true.

Given that you are an SEO expert, you should be able to tell. Anywho yes, they are spiderable. Also avatars link to the profiles

    It is true

Sorry I never noticed that your avatar links to your profile.

I never said that I was an SEO expert. All I would say is this comes up all the time on this forum and others. I always ask for examples of sites ranking on the basis of signature file links. Still waiting for a good example!

Profiles. Donate me a useless domain name and some hosting and I'll just chuck it in my sig, and we'll see what happens with it (if the content is pretty useless, no-one else will link to it, therefore both its rankings and PR will be from the sig links)

Profile PR is passed through the forum. We are talking about signature file links.
We are allready have a test running so no need for a domain.

Why would I use a domain and hosting for a test when I already now the answer?
