I think some can make serious money from this. It will be interesting how the compensation plan would work. Maybe the more popular the file the higher the earning for the person that uploaded the file.
google isn't that dumb that it will pay anybody who uploads a video.it will put up an adver then according to no of visitors(people who watch the video) will get paid according to impressions they get i guess.
Shawn should be proud of himself for pioneering this with DigitalPoint I wonder what percentage they'll share?
I do think that this new scheme will mean that the site will become littered with nonsene videos, as someone else said, in an aim to earn a little revenue. Although, will be interesting to see when it all kicks in
Well, you have a point! But you have to show a degree of interest in what you are doing now, as otherwise it would be totally pointless posting a video. There is now a REASON for people to post, which might take away the current interest people have.
I suppose it may follow a similar trend to adsense. People will try and cash in quick with utter crap, then as this stops working will work hard to improve quality. Look at how much thought goes into content creation on adsense sites - imagine that same level of effort on user sub'd videos...one (remote) posibility. DD
I wonder how this is going to be implemented. Say someone found a viral marketing video which he obviously hasn't got the copyright and upload it. It gets lots of viewing. Should this person be paid? I can't help but think they need a very tight T&C to make it work.
I'm guessing the T&C will be incredibly tight. And they will probably only pay after a certain view count has been reached, which will solve the junk video problem.
I've seen a fair share of junk on there and it baffles me how many views some of those get!!! Several of them posted by members here! I think ultimately this announcement is a good thing...so long as it does not get abused. I mean it's not like anything on the internet as been abused so I think....err NM
I think this will give a lot of choice to youtube as whether to pay people or not... I'd say at least 90% of the stuff on youtube is breaking copyright on some level... where do you draw the line?
Metacafe does that too. If you get 20k visitors to your video, you earn 100$. There are people that've already earned like 25000$ :s I think it's a great idea though.
