You should use a dynamic google sitemap if your content is changing constantly.
It depends what content (manager) you got, but for most systems there are prefab sitemap generators so that you don't have to worry to update it.

Actually i do have some static sites, only once a fortnight i use to update the content for some of the pages, So is it required to update the google sitemap at the same time? I have inserted the sitemap.xml file for all of sites.

Yeah if you do have some static pages then you have to update it manualy afaik. But maybe you should google scan your site without sitemap, you could get even better results. Sitemaps are better for large, constant updated pages.

I don't think it's necessary. G picks up my site changes and new pages with or without a site map. As long as there is a link to a new page somewhere on your site, G seems to pick it up.

I only made a sitemap and submit to google for my first website, after that, I just keep getting backlinks and wait google to crawl and index my site itself.

If your site has a good PR and it's well indexed in G,it's not necessary.

I am no expert but my experience tells me:

personally I get the feeling that sitemaps in general are mostly useful for
    a) announcing a new site to google
    b) trying to show google the importance of some deep pages on your site which might not get indexed in a while if not using sitemap. I.e pages which takes multiple link clicks to reach from your homepage

so if you ask me when you do content changes is not that important to update sitemap , it's more about structural changes and new pages which you want to make google aware of as fast as possible. Cause I think google visits the pages regularly anyway i.e more often than the sitemap says a page is updated.

Definitely you should update the site map when ever you make any changes in your website. That guarantees the visitor that the site is an updated one!
