My new site just got a PR 5 - is this good?

Hi all,

My site (in sig) is 3 months old and just received its first PageRank - a 5 (was set sometime in the past week). Is this good? Also, will this help me in any way (e.g. # of hits, rank in searches, etc.)?

Sorry to add yet another PR thread, I wish there was a PR subforum so I wouldn't have to bother everyone who is tired of this subject.

So is PR completely worthless then? Or is it just used to tell Google how often and how deep to comb a site?

You've done well getting a PR5 on your 1st ranking IMHO. It's debatle what benefits this actually gives you though apart from bragging rights lol, people may want to pay more for links from your site though should you wish to sell them.

pr5 is great for a new site. congrats. now work on content and drive traffic.

PR is of no use for SEO , it is goods only for selling links .

 

"good only for selling links" - gotcha. I'm still a ways off traffic-wise from selling links. I'm getting about 3,000 - 5,000 visits per day now, I want to wait until I'm at 10-20K before advertising at all.

To date, every time I put up advertising, I get complaints and a huge dropoff in new visits (returning visitors don't seem to care though). I pay next to nothing to run my site (just time), so I have no problem waiting ...

Impressive A great PR in 3 months..more sites will link to your site..more people who visits these sites might follow these link to your site.. equals more traffic
Personally I would try to be selective with site you exchange links with..best to link to a (related) site with a greater PR..2nd best (related) site with equal PR.. 3rd a site that been around for a long time with a PR a little lower (PR 2)

Pr is meaningless.
You may sell links though.

 

Better PR will help you in search engines, but you won't see any new changes now that your site is PR5. The Pagerank constantly is updated, just that Google only displays the new pagerank every 3 months or so. So you actually had a pr 5 before the update, it just didn't show in the datacenters until after the update.

PR 5 is definitely good enough to rank well for a lot of keywords.

 

I agree....Pr is worthless in SEO......The toolbar PR is about 3 months outdated
