You get the basic idea. I usually just buy a bunch of 88 cent .info's for my cloaked domains for example. Today I purchased 60 domains and hope to have them all online by tomorrow.

There shouldnt be any rep red given in the first place. Red rep is for people who talk BS, basically if you dont know about blackhat seo you should stay out of this thread :)

    Rep means nothing to me.

Yeah ive done it numerous times. It's easy spam .gov and .edu guestbooks, such easy ways. Im not a blog or forum spammer. So i aint the most hated. also Blogger.com Automated directory submission no captchas submit articles to article sites with like 100 links.

Hit wikipedia, as soon as your link goes down you ping it, because in about 10 minutes itll be down but doesnt matter because google yahoo and other search engines will see it. Such easy ways to do it.

I don't know but if I expect I can make more than $10 I usually go for .com. No matter what the intentions are, but .info already have a spammy reputation.
I am pretty sure that freakishlylongkeywordphrase.com still does better than freakishly-long-key-word-phrase.info

    Just my 2ct.

wrong, .infos dont have anything to do with it.

The truth is i have learned alot by seo and google PR

If you register a domain for more then 1 year that is a point if you have traffic that is another point google scrapes alexa rank. I know this from personal expierience. There is soo much, I do it all

And btw i get my .infos for like .60 :p

.info's will be a red flag at some point i'm sure, but so far I haven't noticed much of a difference as far as longevity. That and I can get like 10 of them for the cost of a single .com in most cases. There is a good deal on .org's right now though so I may do some long term comparisons between the two :)

I agree that registering your domain for more than 1 year helps but Google does have suspicions on .info domains and I believe that they are harder to get indexed. They generally do for me although I only registered a few. I go for .coms as $10 isn't going to hurt me and I get more return traffic.
Does Google give them a penalization right off? No I don't think so. But I think Google does watch them. But for long-tail it doesn't make that much difference once indexed.

That's my suspicion as well. I think that the domains tend to last a good long while as long as you don't go after highly watched markets like viagra, insurance, medical, etc. For those terms the serps are monitored so closely that longevity is a problem. That said, staying under the radar for "rare blue widgets" is quite easy.

Users that patronize the bigger engines... Money talks.. remember? Do you think Google really cares what ScrubTheWeb thinks should occur with the net? I doubt it.

Maybe you are good at white-hat. I fully agree with you that the principals behind black hat are white.. or atleast gray.

Comments like that tend to verify his claim. Its seems you never learned any manners or complex social skills to deal with with such comments. I mean... if you want to talk about web democracy, dont launch a personal attack against the people you dont like. That makes you look like as much of an idiot as George W. (this goes for him as well) And just for the record, this is just an observation, not a personal attack as I could care less.

That was taken out of context. If you read the post I was referring to, the guy not only called me a dick, but left me a rep comment that read "suck my balls". It was completely uncalled for no matter how you look at it. I'm simply trying to have a good discussion here and air some myths in the process. Nothing anyone should get upset about.....

Hm. Interesting. I guess I need to shake of some more WH dust. I know that people go for .com easier but that doesn't matter much if you forward anyways.

I had the perfect setup for you banned .infos until a couple of months ago. The setup I used to drive traffic to any google banned domains would have been perfect but they quit listing .infos a while back.

interesting thread, quite different and conflicting perspectives here :D

one thing that strikes me is that many pro-BH tend to affirm it just takes a few minutes to set up sites that will bring home a lot of dough, contrary to WH.

but, surely it ain't this easy, otherwise you guys would be doing it 18hours a day for a year then retiring multimillionaires, right? or working 15 minutes a day and enjoying life year round...

i'm not saying BH is not a way to earn $, nor am i saying that BH is worse or better than WH to earn $, but i wanted to stress that is does not look as easy and profitable as sometimes claimed.

as most sources of income, it's still work, not a magic bullet. each person will find the way that best fits their personnality/beliefs/ambition etc.

as for me, i'm still confined in WH, no desire yet to move to the dark side... may the force be with me :D

You said it perfectly there. It ISN'T a magic bullet, and it is work. There can be big rewards though. It's like anything else, you research it, and then the rest is trial and error. Never stop learning.

If you know black hat you should be good at white hat because you will then know what can get you banned and what won't. You will know what Google tolerates.

For a spam/bh site it doesn't matter much a I said before. .com domains are what non-net-savvy people think is the internet. Some can remember the name of the domain but they will use .com as an extension even if it wasn't. This has gotten better over the years but still happens. I do it myself sometimes because I thought it was .com. For a spam site this doesn't matter as you don't need them to return. For a white hat site this can be a big help. I have a fairly good return visitor percentage.

Agreed. For a white hat domain a .com is pretty much a must. For black hat it doesn't matter since all of your visitors are coming directly from listings in search engines. With cloaked pages they never even see the domain so making it memorable is pretty much just a waster of time.

How does the domain forwarding work? Do you just like purchase any old .info redirect it to your main site and plug it full of keywords? or what?

Sort of. You can't just redirect it as you would another domain, you need to have a way to tell a search engine from a regular user (ip cloaking or user agent based cloaking). The content is more than just keyword stuffed pages. We attempt to mimic natural language and keyword densities to stay under the radar. It may not be very readable to a human, but computers can't do anything more than find keywords and phrases at this point anyway.
