It would take more effort to destory a compeditor's ranking, than to simply move yours up. That is what is ment, I believe.
I agree.... if this was the case, there are many companies that could and would spend a few thousand dollars on bad links to a competitive site to drop it lower in the rankings.......
Of course it is senseless, when your site is on some 200th position - it would be a weird idea to destroy rankings of 199 sites, but let's say you've managed to rise your site to 10th or 9th position and wish to move it a bit higher, just 3-4 positions? I bet there are people doing such things, because I've been witnessing such things.
Competitor could only outrank you by working more aggressively on link development. Like some one said in this thread competitor could also place your link to black listed places: This won't give you any harm. If your site is linking to these blacklisted sites, then YES, it will hurt your ranking. But if someone is linking to you, then it's not your problem. It will still give you a boost The more people are talking about you, the better for your site PERIOD! So, work on your links and improve your site content! Make it interesting!
No problem, give me an url of any of your top ranking sites and depending on current speed of G's filters it will be wiped out from SERPs as soon as possible. No, I'm not using these dirty methods to kill competitors, I just hate such an offensive replies to my posts and I will prove you that I am right.
Okay take care of 1stsearchenginerankings.com - Can you give me an estimate when Google will destroy me? I got captcha so spam shouldn't be that big of a problem....
Actually, watchin Squeez the last while - he's been around the dark side a time or 2... anyways, this is an OLD BH trick to cause a competitor grief. It's not that you get banned per se for Link Spamming in as much as potential trouble with your hosting or domain registrar with complaints. You simply fire up your link spamming application and hammer known honey pots and high visbility blogs, guestbooks, forums and the like... that's the basic idea.... I prefer a good syn flood attack to a Link Spam assault - If I wanna nuke somebody ... either way it's all kids games...
Well I had it happen twice before and known ever succeeded. They did succeed in signing me up for a bunch of trash mailing list crap though since my email was out there. That is fixed now.
no problem, I will do it within 2-3 days and will report it in this thread, so everybody here will have chance to discover actuality of subject of this thread on practice.
May be your ranking will decrease if you don't have quality content & you don't have quality backlinks.... etc. In this case why would a competitor worry about your low ranking site.... unless he/ she has nothing better to do. But if you have a solid site with many pages of quality content, 100s of backlinks.... etc, I believe the affect would be very minimum if any. So nothing to worry about here either!
First before you start anything please PM me your email. I would like to use it in case I should have any trouble with my host.
well, if you will agree that spamming (submitting) your URL in thousands of guestbooks and blogs will DO HURT your rankings, then I will do nothing and in case if i WILL, then I think nothing will save your hosting from abuses. I repeat, I have nothing personal against you, I just want to prove I'm right - that's it.
I am not admitting your right. I just don't want a mess to clean up when your done. I am confident it will not hurt my rankings. I don't want my host to get mad.
Viso, I have seen your site in the serp's many times for the record you are listed #1 for 1st Search Engine Rankings blog and your forum is listed #3 for SEO Experts Forums I doubt he will be able to do anything but with the new Algo update who knows. If google allows spammers to easly remove the top sites they will destroy google overnight
I am 100% confident Google will not ban me if he spams my site. But 2 friends PMed me about this and after thinking it over I don't want to risk upsetting my host. I had this done to me twice before and never had my host get mad but I don't want to push it. If I had a neutral domain I might try it. When things cool down in a few months I will get a free hosting account rank it in Google and let you try and get it banned then.
What about gid's post, visio (last page)? He has hurt himself with backlinks...if so, any competitor could have done this to him as well.
