Just a bit of fun guess work here. Every time someone buys/sells something using paypal, paypal take some of the money to keep for themselves. How much do you think paypal makes from this alone every second? I think they earn $1,000 a second. What do you guess?
Why do you want to guess when you can have almost close to exact figures? Pick their financial figures for 3 months, and do the math! Bye
I doubt it is above $1000 per second. Last quarter Exxon mobile reported net profit of $79,000 per minuite which is $1316 per second. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dy...AR2006072700383.html?nav=rss_business/economy PayPal must be at least half that assuming you are talking about net earnings and not gross earnings.
If you are talking PayPal you are correct. If you are talking Exxon mobile, wrong. They posted $10.36 billion net profit in one quarter alone.
They charge so much for transaction (for business account users), they probably make welllll over $1000 IMO (don't forget ebay! how many people are paying via paypal... and how many items are auctioned off per second?). ^ I wish I owned paypal too DragonHeads lol
What does $3.83 per second equate to be? $3.83 x 60 seconds = $229.80 per minute $229.80 x 60 minutes = $13788.00 per hour $13788.00 x 24 hours = $330912.00 per day $330912.00 x 365 days= $120,782,880.00 per year Sounds about right to me. Col
Well, counting that Paypal is the payment provider that charges the lowest in the industry for its business and premier accounts, I doubt that it is $1000 a second. Besides for credit card payments, they are probably get charged by the credit card companies some service charges per transaction. According to the 4th quarter results of eBay, http://files.shareholder.com/downlo...a89664d4e591/eBayIncEarningsReleaseQ42006.pdf , it reads Assuming that all the 4 quarters are identical, it would have made about $417 x 4 = $1,668,000,000 a year or about $58 per second. Should be less counting that not all quarters are similiar.
Paypal is part of ebay, so think about all the auction payments every minute without counting all the other transactions.
You don't necessary need to pay by Paypal for the eBay auctions. The option is however available if you choose to use it.
all your saying is wrong. doesnt mean they get so much money, then can keep it all. PP must have many expenses to.
Nice thread.. I always think about it.. But remember they have to pay a lot as tax and have lot of legal responsibilities to run such a payment system.. Not easy man.. a single claim can make them bankrupt.
