Hi, Sorry for my English but hope that you understand my question. Why does G show toolbar PR? G fights with links salling. PR - is the most important factor that form the price for link. Simple task solution - not show TBPR! I dont tell about abolition of algorithm based on PR - simply make it internal G factor.
Brilliant question. I'll say what I said elsewhere yesterday - PageRank is a tool for polishing webmasters egos and inflating link prices. Maybe Google just like to make webmasters feel happy four times every year - kind of a free gift for all the support and free advertising they get from us!
it's a marketing ploy, it makes people inspire to make it go up, and everyone needs the Google toolbar to see there PR, it's a genius tactic! I know the Gypsy has done a good article on this
Read this http://www.google.com/technology/ It seems that initially displaying PR was considered to become a handy indicator of usefulness of a particular site for surfers, because Google Toolbar is a tool that was initially created for surfers, not webmasters, isn't it?
I think the recent PR update was a smart one... by that means... my main page which got most backlinks has lower PR than another page that has all the related backlinks sooo
exactly PR was not meant to be a webmaster tool. It was designed to show surfers googles trust/relavance of a particular site. Plus it sends google all the info on exactly what site everyone with the toolbar visits!
G shows it ... because it wants to see ppl talking about them and thinking about them all the time. What PR reminds you? {Google Google Google }
