I've actually made back most of what I've initially put into all my projects (well, the expenses for all the other sites got covered by one really successful one )
i have spent thousands. However, not every money spent went to drain. I think those adwords experiment and bought wrong sites which i got no idea how to promote cost me a lot!
I spoiled maximum a couple thousands, but this doesn't make me sick, because there are things to be experienced in life, even if it does have a bitter cost.
Probably 50$ on useless domains and 80$ on useless hosting. I've also started up too many projects which never get finished, this time however, I think I'm going to concentrate on ONE original idea/project. However, I want to sell all my stuff first though so that I can start with a clean slate and have some start up cash
the way to make money is to stop spending money on dumb books that teach you how to make money. i have never purchased one of those books and i am so amazed by the numbers that do.
I've not lost too much in terms of actual cash money, but if I factor in the time wasted on discarded sites and failed ideas I'm sure it will add up to large figures
You need to spend to make money, that includes losing money. So you have to gamble, so i believe its part of the process of running a business. But buying stupid things and wasting money is different.
I bought about 6 crappy domain names when I first started from Godaddy. About $60 dollars. Oh yes and time.
Care to clue me in? I am about to launch a joomla developed site. I didn't use any SEO modules yet though.
I haven't lost anything yet. Im pretty careful when it comes to buying something. I search around if people like it etc.. So search before you buy. - Prilep
Well i lost money on onpayed projects and few ucks on domains that i didn't use .... Not to mutch like 500$ in 2.5 years of doing business online
I lost about 50$ in one of my paypal, which was closed by a scammer who got my pass somewhere , From then, i m beware about this issue all the time.
Well i didn't bought even my domains... i got it in a website called hostbidder, you have to post alot to get 1 domain... and i was 17 and my parents usually view internet as a place full of scams but i'm smart because i've studied alot about what i was doing... then i got my domain, set up my website that i know pretty well photoshop/html/css and i know some php and mysql... so everything went fine, my niche was small and now im making around 7 dollars a day. I'm 18 and most of people of my age are loosers, they study so hard and don't know anything about making money and probably will have MBA college + lots of stuff because their parents paid everything but will never get a good job because they didn't grew up trying to be good, just following what their parents say. Or they work all the day and get thesame that i get(I live in Brazil). From where i start i think i'm doing pretty good, now im like keeping my website and studying alot of mysql php ajax and new trends, i've got a payment of around 1000 dollars from adsense... my parents almost cryied HAHA And they got interest on what im doing and felt that im better than the others and that im not gonna be a kid that is gonna stay forever living with their parents but saw me as a grow up man, man that was so important for me and made me focus so much and want to learn alot and dream more. Im also studying alot to do my college on the public school(they are really good and free but its SO hard to join because some rich ass from private schools that studies like a madman studies there). I'm gonna be a computer engineer and i want to work for Google someday, i just love Google and if i someday work there i'm gonna be the happiest guy in the world. I just love how life is difficult for me, that makes me get so smart and better everyday, if i were born with rich parents and on usa i would be drinking and partying with my friends, i used to say bad stuff about god everyday i woke up until i saw how much progress i was doing comparing to everyone. And i want to loose money, i guess that everyone had/will have some loss, but how much they learned with this loss will make them successful or no.
Hehe I lost money when my greed got to me.. I started investing in hyips and scams... at the end I decided to invest my money in betting on World Cup 2006... haha and that didn't work out either... So finally I came to this forum and started building sites.... it's the best investment... Anyway you don't understand Winning. Until you understand losing...
I've haven't lost any money online but I've put myself in a few situations where I could have...Good Karma I guess. (Except on damn horse racing and poker - but I bet mainly for fun so I don't lose much )
