It seems to me that either google downgraded blogger sites, subdomains or both. blogspot sites never seem to rank well for major keywords.
Cprntr, I think you're right in that Google has never ranked Blogger sites particularly highly. There is, however, Google blogsearch. Maybe Google expects people who want blogs in their results to search there.
What I am getting at is the effort some sites are putting into blogging as a form of SEO, when using blogger, is kind of a waste.
really? somehow I think in opposite way..would you tell me some keywords for which blogger doesnt rank well? I think that google trusts enough bloggers to let blogger to rank well. maybe if you will use blogger for some kind of services like link rent or some like that..you not gonna rank well for it..
how true is it? bloggers don't rank well in google when you search for the keywords? maybe your major keywords are competetive keywords? why i see bloggers that is included at least in top 20 google search? maybe it depends upon the contents and keyword density of the blogger.. and bloggers are always updated.
I know that in the travel sector blogs rarely rank high for competitive keywords. I think that most of the high ranking sites have spend lots of time and effort on search engine optimizing their websites and a blog isn't going to kick them off the top.
People went mad a few years ago, when the blogg craze took off. It made so much spam that it was algoed out by G. #1 If a blogg ranks well for a competitive keyword they have probally bought a link with that anchor. #2 Haven't noticed the sub domains. Subdomains need seperate backlinks to rank and site submission to G. You can't simply add your keyword as a sub and they hope to rocket up the charts!
