I have been running scripts and watched really big chunks of data in Firefox lately. Now Firefox is getting slow sometimes freezing for 3 to 4 seconds by just viewing for example DP forum. Its the same if I restart Firefox or even restarts the computer. I have the latest update.

What can I do to this ?

    Thanks.

    Consider clearing your cache

While firefox is on press ctrl + shift + del then check cache and other data and clear it.

If that does not work it out, create a new firefox profile. To do that,

    - Close all instances of Firefox
    - Goto Start >> Run >> Type in "firefox -p" without the quotes
    - From the profile manager, create a new profile

And you should be all set :)

    Or start uninstalling your extensions.

Thanks. Clearing cache does not help. And shouldnt there be a way without creating a new profile ? I do not want to do that every time I have runned the script.
The extensions I have was not a problem before I started to run this script. I will check them out, will it be enough just to disable them or do I have to uninstall them ?

May be you have been infected with some kind of virus because yesterday I've just spoken with my friend & he told me that there are possibilities that Firefox being infected by virus, thus make it run very slow.

My suggestion: check your system & clear all virus found! (just one of the way to investigate)

I asked you something. I'd only be able to help, if you bother to answer them!

Sorry Abhishek. Thanks for bothering :)

I am running a web spider script from my own site. The script shows me if the sites spidered are spidered before or if they are spidered ok this time.

Yes , sometimes I get "A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or continue to see if the script will complete". But its very rare that I get this message. And then I am wondering why FF still hangs after clearing the cache and restarting the computer even. The comp are working good without FF running. And right now FF uses 205 Mb of memory, i restarted the comp just 1 hour ago.

    Hmm ... try bumping your max_script_run_time to maybe 10 or 15 ...

    To do this ....

    - Open FF
    - Type in about:config and press enter
    - Now in the text area below the address bar which says Filter, type in dom.max_script_run_time
    - now you should get tht in the preference section, right click on it and click on modify, enter 10 or 15 and click ok
    - Restart Firefox

I have the same problem as you. It takes 20s to run FF and it uses 300MB of my memory. I have also watched big chunks of data. CTRL+SHIFT+DEL doesnt help, because if I try this, FF doesnt respond anymore... Any different way to help?

    max_script_run_time was 10, now trying 15.

    EDIT: This did not help.
