Paid directories are useless for traffic (Yahoo-like ones are exception). Maybe, there are niches when it makes some sense to submit to high-PRed directory, just to bit competing sites in search results. So, I recommend to use free directories. Like mine one in signature.
Do you have a listing in www.kingbloom.com ? Sure, generally speaking you are right, but there are exceptions.
Yeah, kingbloom sends quite a bit of traffic I submit to directories only for the link weight, traffic is just a bonus.
I like getting instant traffic for clients with brandnew domains. First comes traffic from other sites like kingbloom, then YSM and GA and spam engine msn, then Yahoo and then big G.
I don't know if I should create another topic on this or not...but what is the best paid directories for people in real estate? For that matter, from everyones experience, what is the best paid directories or directories period for real estate agents? I am looking to increase the exposure of my website at MyIndianapolisHome.com. I'm happy with the progress in the past 8 months. I can't wait until I can post links here!
If you want to have a higher PR for your site, then any high PR real estate directory should do it. Make sure the page your link is placed got PR. For traffic, I think you should find a real estate directory that is ranked high in Google with the popular keywords; "real estate", "real estate directory", "US real estate". Look also at Yahoo! SERPs.
You are active on REW, so I was including yours in the good ones I have seen there. Actually, IMO yours is the best. Added I have added your baby to mine
Kingbloom is a great site, for $15 you can get a super premium advert for a year, which is listed above all the other sites, and is highlighted.
Thanx for the comments and plugs! Glad to hear people are seeing traffic! The purpose of a directory should be a combination of things, not just PR, IMO. It's nice to see someone actually finding a search result from a KingBloom listing that wound up in Google or another SE. It's nice to know that people are seeing actual traffic. I am thinking of creating a script to log/display the search counts, results and destinations as well as referrals that get people into our directory. I think there is probably some interesting information to be found in who is searching for what and from where.
Interesting, I have a few directory sitewides but Syed's http://www.idk.in/ is the only one without PR and the only one which shows traffic on Google Analytics.
