I have to agree. If the seller is serious, why the secrecy? Random stats are fine, but a mystery box is never worth more than a few bucks at best.

 

No kidding. People that aren't being upfront about things tend make me a bit worried.

 

David, those stats are very nice but you've still not told us much to go on. Is it American football or soccer? How established is the blog? What proportion of traffic comes from SERPs? Since you're only asking for a 'hypothetical' value (eg. I'm NOT making a bid here) I think your traffic/earnings value this blog at around $3000. Just my guess.

Editted to add: I'm probably going to get flamed now for even suggesting such a high price!

I have decided to put up my blog for sale. It is incredibly popular. It generated 1.1million page impressions in 2005, 2.1million in 2006 and 212k in 2007 so far.

Revenue for that time...



It is a soccer news blog and the revenue from the site is made through adsense. I don't use any paid advertising methods.

Visitors come from Eat Sleep Football, News Now, various other RSS aggregators, links from other sites, forums and the many people who subscribe to the RSS feed.

This means traffic is heavily dependant on the football news. People keep coming back because it is updated on a daily basis with football's top news.

I am selling because I no longer have the time to run it. I have employed people in the past to write content but I feel the site needs a change of ownership as I concerntrate on other projects.

The problem with the business model is that it's a huge time sink to maintain and you aren't building on past content - since people are by definition coming to the site for the latest news. Anyone can duplicate your business model by posting every day.

I am quite amazed such a simple blog can earn that much and worth that much. That's bloody a few LCD TVs

 

I am lowering the starting bid to $3000.

I do not have an itrader rating no, we can put this through as a private auction on ebay when its bought if it would give you greater comfort. My feedback rating there is 40 and all 100% positive.

 

I do not think it will be wise to sell it below $3000 if according to your stats it gets more than 3000 uniques / day. How you make money with it since there is no ads there ?
