really, it's bad enough we have to watch stupid ass Nissan and Sprite/Coke commercials before the coming attractions at movies now!!! Sponsors? Sounds like selling out to me. and let me illustrate that by showing a clip from said web site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLeXUC8pSdk
You make an advert to try and make money from your site and stick it on youtube and rather than paying for it you get paid for people watching it lol genius idea lol Can see a huge amount of crap being uploaded on there although it wont matter too much youtube is full of crap already
you're not going to sit, stand, or tri-pod there and tell me that this particular video can even be mentioned in the same sentence as "crap" or "dear god why?" http://www.youtube.com/v/LKu_QA8Bn9o
I don't know about you guys but this is definitely a good news. If you don't want some money from YouTube then fine. Stay away from it.
$5 for every 1000 views, that is very doubtful. My guess would be like $10 per 20k views or something. It has to be in the range where they would make the amount back. Because at $5 per 1k views, that is $5,000 for a 1M views, which I am pretty sure YouTube doesn't make that per 1M view video.
They'll only pay for original content where the uploader has full ownership / copyright though. This cuts the numbers of videos drastically I think
Thats a great way to help the video uploaders too. Now I think there would be competition for adding good videos.
Damn, all my videos are 100% original. I wish they had that going on right now I would have like $1,500
Metacafe does this exact thing now. Are you saying they don't know what they are doing or that youtube isn't smart enough to make it work like them?
Man $5 per 1000 views is only $5 CPM, Some advertisers are paying $100's CPM and more for homepage vids.
well did you guys read the guidelines for a video to qualify? Its kind of hard to get something like that u have to get 20K views before your video even qualifies. Meaning if you get 19k views u get $0 nada. Plus you have to have 100% ownership of the video 100% yours. anything under 20k you get noting that’s per video so you cant say ill combine all my videos to get that. so its not that easy to get the $5 bux per 1k. just hope this clarifies things here.
YouTube's idea to have videos earn money is both a good and bad thing. If some up and coming filmmaker uploads their video to YouTube and it's very popular (like the "Where the Hell is Matt?" video), that person can make some pretty good money, say $5K for every 1 MM views. But what about the people that upload television shows or content that someone else owns? How is YouTube going to handle it if some people are posting videos that they made themselves but feature copyrights owned by other companies (suppose a popular YouTube video shows a can of Coke and Coke doesn't want its copyright used?) Everyone's seen the video on YouTube showing what happens when someone chucks a tube of Menthos into a bottle of Coke, so would that YouTube video creator be making money from other companies trademarks? Can YouTube be sued by companies like Coke if YouTube is paying people for video content? This could open the doors for people to violate copyrights like never before or it will end the days when people could upload fan made videos of their favorite TV shows or home videos that use songs. The only thing that seems likely is that a bunch of lawyers will make a lot more money.
... if Youtube sees videos that are infringing on copyrights they simply wont pay. Do you think they would send out checks without having checked the video that is earning the money? Come on people, think.
Indeed, at least someone posting something good inspite those other idiotic posts by checksum! He's just a cheap loser who is out for the money and I have the freedom to think whatever I want.
But my theatre tricks you. They changed the time on the ticket to the movie's actual start time! It used to show the time the commercials/previews started. Now, if you show up 5 minutes late, you've missed 5 minutes of the movie. Sneaky bastards.
That sucks.. In all fairness, it is rare we even get to see a movie anymore. Time wise, and kid wise. Now I was able to take my kid to see "Cars", and he enjoyed every moment of it, and was completely focused the entire time. But, for my wife's b-day last year we went to see "Pirates of the Caribbean" part 2. He did not make it through. Mainly because he was scared of the monsters. This latest one was a bit dark, and he did not enjoy it. I can't stand screaming kids, so I pulled him out. I still have not seen the end of that. I'm sticking to the G stuff... Pirates really should have had a higher rating IMO. Now, while it looks like I am veering off topic, I have a point here. When it comes to commercials, one thing I notice about my kid is, he is GLUED to them. He seems to be deep concentration when a commercial comes on. Me on the other hand, I don't even notice them. My wife and I had the TV on the other night, "Star Trek", I think... There was a commercial break and she was like, "hey, did you see that? --- I love that commercial --- that was funny". I was like... "see what?" I am completely tuned out. However, during the SuperBowl, I live for commercials. Especially the Beer commercials. I will be watching real close this year because a fellow V-Rod rider I know will be in the new GoDaddy Commercial.
Good videos easily get 20k views and of course you need ownership to get paid for it. Would you rather they let you get paid for stealing peoples content?
