If you mean editor, I use gPHPedit - http://www.gphpedit.org/ (for Linux) (consider this post my "thank you" to them...
Same here. I does what I need well. Right now I have 42 files open and can nav them with no problem. It even handles huge files well with the necessary RAM installed.
I liked PHP Designer 2005 there for awhile, now I am in Homesite and playing in Visual Studio 2005 some (but for .NET stuff). I jump around really. I'll be trying EditPlus soon now from reading the previous topics.
PHPMaker to jumpstart the backend maintenance pages. Dreamweaver 8 for the public web pages and to modify the pages created by PHPMaker. -Jim
Normally I like using any old FTP program (I like the apps that I can just download, config and upload) but if I have to ge my hands dirty I use what I use in my day job for coding ColdFusion which is Adobe Dreamweaver.
I am using Programmers. Its located here at http://www.pnotepad.org/, Its really very nice. See features here http://www.pnotepad.org/features/
Most likely. Other tools can help your productivity. Why are you reluctant to use them? I use Zend, EditPadLite, ancient version of GoLive, Bradsoft TopStyle and smart ftp. EditPadLite is the only freebie though
Most of these tools use "key trapping" generally to point out errors in code, make available certain functions one "1" click of a key etc. Example if you hit "F8", an inbuilt browser might be launched or something. Although useful, this kind of slows the regular typing on my PC. (Always has too many programs running, some of which constantly keep the memory and RAM busy...) Notepad doesn't do key trapping, and I find myself working faster with it... Bye
