How to get good traffic WITHOUT Google?

Does anybody know how to get good traffic without google, i'd like to hear, i'm trying to get rid of google as much as i can, they're too dangerously powerful, they more or less own the internet... And that stresses me out!

I've done lots of various things, press releases ( but that has only an effect limited in time ) , buying ads etc..
I have found nothing that comes down to a good search engine placement.

Basically, If you're out of google, you're out of business!

If you build good backlinks, and do some great link exchanges with other related high PR sites. you might get alot of traffic without google :)

Doing LEs or by buying links on related HIGH traffic sites can get some traffic though I believe SE traffic is best .

All that stuff, been there, done that.
We are talking about site that:
-Have been on hundreds of directories
    -Have unique content and articles
    -Have a sitemap on Google
-Have been done everything to make sure it's indexed

These non indexed site need an answer to this thread :D

    Pat,

So why is that a problem? Just learn to adapt to any Google changes and you'll be Ok. :)

Traffic without Google is like ignoring SEO for your site. Therefore, you might want to concentrate on other marketing channels.

Create a BUZZ about your site by buying advertisments, text links, post in forums, email to your peers / previous & existing customers, viral marketing etc. Good Luck.

I'm indexed, well placed etc... but i just got paranoid. I realised that i'm more or less dependent on google.
I've done everything i could to reduce the impact in case of ban ( i've created several websites belonging to different companies ). But those sites are getting big for my standards, ( 500k unique visitors a month , well i guess there's no much risk of getting banned since they're popular ), but still, that could happen.
    Am i too paranoid ?

Make something worth linking to, talking about and then let other big websites in your industry know about it.

considering google gets 75% + of all searches, to try and build a website without google is just bad practice.

Bad practice? I disagree. Traffic from Google would be a bonus but to rely upon it? No thanks.. plenty of other ways of getting regular and steady traffic.

I surprised by the static the original poster is getting for this thread.

Depending on google as your only source of business is dangerous - I know from experience. They can put you out of business in a hurry, if they don't like something you did... or by an error on their end, or maybe someone just out seo'ing you.

Branching out and diversifying your income sources is crucial to maintaining a business long term. Relying only on google is having all your eggs in one finicky basket.

However, google is almost all powerful and going completely without them will be difficult.

Try to find a balance, grasshopper.

For myself, I am exploring the idea of off-line promotion for my website. Not sure how yet, but I am going to find a way.
