Hdfc bank. Have CVC and Visa logo. Result-Paypal denied with a message 'your bank does not allow...'[i've forgotten the exact msg] Summary:Indian debit card cant be used .maybe due to bank restrictions.
I've tried this and got an error, that it cannot be used. I contacted Paypal Customer care and they said, I need a CC not a debit card.
Indya, have you tried w/ the new HDFC Netsafe program? (It creates a virtual credit card number w/ CVC). https://netsafe.hdfcbank.com/ACSWeb/enrolljsp/CardholderFAQ.jsp Let us know how it goes. Thanks.
Citibank Citicard: No CVC but i think a friend told me that he was using some Debit Card for Paypal in India, let me see if i can contact him
Just for all the US people wondering what this is about: most countries outside the US do NOT use credit cards for normal shopping purposes. Due to high interest rates and stuff like that credit cards are usually NOT the best option for payment outside the US (I include European countries like The Netherlands in this). I got myself a credit card for the express purpose of being able to get money off paypal and pay my yahoo-hosting. Other than that, no use for it. (ah well, have used it with amazon once or twice since then).
Netsafe card works. I even verified my paypal a/c with a netsafe card but you have to create a netsafe card atleast INR 280 or above.[more than 3.5 euro].
Same problem with ICICI Debit card. The new ICICI Debit cards are VISA cards with CVN, but still they don't work for online payments.
damn and i got a SBI debit card my bank said i have to wait for 3months to ask for CC and even that time they wont assure you that you will surely get a CC or not. eeerrrhh............ btw SBI CC and HSBC Debit card works perfectly with only purchase
You can always get a Credit card against a fixed deposit. If you make a FD with a bank, they will give you a CC without any proof of income. ICICI offers a lifetime free CC. CCs against FDs also have a lower interest rate - usually 1% or so.
Then do onething. Someone posted here at dp sometime ago that icici bank give you cc if you make an FD of 20k INR. Go and search for that.
My dad and my sis has a SBI & HSBC CC i have opened a new ac @ SBI so they said u have 2 wait for 3month to ask for CC ICICI dont know about that when i planed to open a bank ac i wanted to @ ICICI but my dad said if u want secure service go for SBI coz its a Goverment bank. SBI gives CC for Free too I heard that @ ICICI u have to keep a deposit of 10000
I applied for ICICI CC and its still processing from 6months and whereas SBI sent it to me in 15 days
Verify your PayPal account... See this thread if you are from INDIA http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=227917
I have been successful in adding a debit card .. MC .. but it was not one issued in india . I tried to verify with one issued in india .. it didnt work
I tried almost 5-6 debit cards to verify , but unfortunately it didn't worked because they ask for CVV number.. and Debit cards doesnt have sumthng like that..
The newer ICICI debit cards have CVV, but still they won't work. I don't know why , but maybe they are not enabled for internet transactions. You have no choice - you have to GET A CREDIT CARD.
Lol Yeah Sachin, I've applied for VCC from one guy selling on DP . but its 5 days no reply from him .. so m bit frustrated.. lets see i'll wait for 1 more day or i need to find some other way
Personally I don't think so that VCC is a good idea to verify your paypal account. Better you go for credit card option.
