I saw a documentary on the discover channel about this, seems like their are many webmasters their because of the cheap labor. Everyone is in India now a days, Most companies move to Asia to take advantage of the very very low labor costs hmmhmm...wallmart....hmmhmm.

i agree here. the indians i know have some (well running) websites, but mostly use only out-of-the-box solutions like phpbb, joomla, wordpress, phpld etc. but dont code something on their own in most cases.

And this has to do with this thread why...?

Anyway, I think it's because of the conversion rate and that working online is probably a lot more profitable than at a job there.

As already stated, those located in India could make an absolute killing from the internet due to the difference in currency's.

I've met a few Indian folks that are very good at what they do. :)

$10 US dollars is about 220.750 INR according to xe.com.

The average wage is very low in India. See this thread.

It is very difficult to answer what 441 INR can do.

If you consider PPP (Purchasing Power Parity), 1 USD = 10 INR - which means an income of 10 rupees in India is equivalent of an income of 1 USD in US.

If a person has income of 100 USD in India...it is equivalent of income of 440 USD in US.

One must keep in mind that PPP is not a perfect method of judging the cost of living in a country. Certain items like food are very cheap in India and certain items like Petrol are very expensive.

However I can say that one needs a monthly income of at least USD 250 to live a decent life in India.

Do you mean to see that Romanians are comparitively more intelligent .That is not true , it all depends on envirnoment /opportunity avialiable. Indian are only 1.5 of US population yet 38 % of American doctors are Indians. Other fgures are quoted in my earlier post http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2125680#post2125680

Industrial revlolution belonged to England and other Europeon countries , digital revolution belongs to India now . lol

    Well,
The reason i can see that why so many indians are into webmastering can be following
    1) Almost 50-60% are below 27 years
    2) Enthusiastic and Passionate about exploring new things
    3) Earnings in $$$
    4) Ofcourse the population is quite high
    5) Cheap Labour and Low cost services which yields high profit

Not too many reasons. Firstly India has the second highest population so naturally the number of people keeping an interest in computers and Internet would be high in comparison to the other countries.

The ratio might be VERY less, but the number is high. Secondly Indians know how to communicate in English so yeah. But you are right more than half of them don't type in perfect grammar and spelling.

I believe one of the reasons for this is that most people in India start off with computers by Instant Messaging and Chatting, therefore their lingo is disturbed.

    Main Reasons are..

    1. Huge population
    2. Cheap Labour
    3. outsourcing of IT related works to India
    4. More hardworking and Intelligent
    5. High number of "comfortable-with-english" people

Did you rate him accordingly? I have check your profile at GAF (jpcesar from Portugal), but I can't find your coder.
I can see only one Indian coder, rated by you: "Good communication and fast delivery."
