Days of madness on Adsense

after all the various tips and ideas on these forums, there are days when I don't even want to know about things

last month I had close to 900 clicks for the month less than I have so far this month

I was actually feeling quite chuffed until I saw that for almost 900 clicks more I have actually earned $7 less

we must be happy with the scraps we get I suppose :(

how did the internet marketing ever get so messed up or are Adsense simply getting greedy

I get a tenth of your clicks in a good month
One man's scraps are another man's banquet.

You could always try switching to AdBrite :D

I've seen a definite drop as well - not so bad as yours, but a definite 20% drop in the average price per click....(that's on a travel site)

    sucks

Scott Baulch would puke on all this

50000 click thrus in less than 10 months for what return

we really need to be proactive in assembling our own marketing

as soon as I am able to I will limit Adsense to 1 add per page

let's hope we get there soon

That's life with Adsense. Take it or leave it. Of course, the smart thing would be finding other way sto monetize your site instead of allowing Adsense to control your "scraps".

Some money is better than nothing.Seven bucks is still enough for a movie I guess :p Seriously though I have a feeling that there is a lot to be said for those MFA sites which have ruined good content sites. Oh well. Maybe Google Video Adsense that is coming will be made available to more of us and then we can all have a bit of $$$$

I agree with Jack, you have to have more than one way of bringing home the cornbread. I've had thousands in earnings a month and I've had merely hundreds. You just have to roll with the punches and not let adsense be the only way your site can make money. The second you start to rely on adsense ur phucked.

On one of my major websites I've got around 5,000 clicks so far for this month for a little more than $400 which is around $0.08 / click.

Result: I have removed all my adsense ads today until I switch to some more profitable program (I'm going to try chitika or do some independent advertising). I think nothing's going to change until people decide to quit massively.

I mean, think about it: maybe there are more and more people using adsense, but there are also more and more advertisers. So the only reason for this is Google taking more and more of the profit (while studying market behavior; once they see they lose too many members, they change their behavior). Google should allow Webmasters to decide what kind of ads they want; for instance, you should be allowed to block ads under $0.15/click. This is after all quite fair considering that YOU are the one providing the ads space on your propriety.

LOL. You're getting an average of 8-cents a click and you're complaining? My friend, there are people on this forum who BARELY scratches 1-cent a click. :D

lol ... reading this does show the scale of people's situations

fortunately I do have a few clients who pay to advertise on the site

time is a major factor and getting to the market side should be a first port of call but somehow one is always distracted along the way

well thanks for the grumble, one must enjoy the scraps

    :D

The CPC have been steadily declining in my area. I used to reach an average 0.25/c, then 0.20, then 0.15, then 0.10, and last time I checked this was catastrophic (like 0.8). I'm talking about average here, as I noticed I tended to have very low-paid clicks followed by a few highly-paid ones. Anyhow, game over for me as I've started to realize going for one-on-one advertising deals can bring much more cash if the topic of your website is appropriate :)
