I got this email too, looks like they sent it out to a few hundred thousand people. And I thought I was the chosen one The site they have picked has a leaderboard with images above it on every page. I guess they dont mind afterall
Probably I think Google got found another good CTR ad block and likes to add to the list (Large rectangle and Wide Skyscrapper) and also I guess not all of the publishers gets the email and me too not received, but I already implemented 300x250 on my pages and my CTR is also good (around 20%), so that I did'nt got the mail.. I guess... Also, people who received the email, please share here about your CTR now you're having, because another guess is Google likes to improve your CTR in this passion... but I am not sure..
Same here. I wonder if it the sites were hand selested or if it was just generic email to randomly selected publishers...the site they asked me to do the new ads on has been quite dormant, at most 1000 hits /month so I don't know why they chose this one....
I received it also. They expressed particular interest in my most popular site. I can do this on my site without interfering with the structure, so I might try it. I hope I am not disappointed with the revenue. I will be sure to set up an alternate 300x250. Given their recent investments, it is logical to assume they are building up a large base of 300x250 boxes so that we will be ready for streamed video advertising.
My guess would be that they are looking for more video ad inventory. In my experience, the video ads reduce ecpm significantly.
Well, I changed over a few of my ads and am not happy at all. The video ads that are showing up are totally unrelated and they are making my site look trashy. On my wedding site, I have video ads for chemo therapy and cadilac. Should I give it a few days to see if the ads become more relevant. The text ads are still relavent so I am concerned that they just don't have any video or box ads to go with my theme. I think it really looks bad. I think I may have to put these down at the bottom of the page and leave the text ads on top. I'm sure a cadilac ad would pay well but it just looks horrible. I will do this for a while to see if the video ads become more relavent.
Well i have to say that for the last week or so ive been avg around 15-20$ a day. I implemented the 300x250 ad and i was at 19$ when i did. CHecked this morning and i made $45 yesterday so i guess its working. heh
Interesting. Did you made major change of ad position when u changed over to 300x250? I changed mine too and replied them. Let's see how mine goes.
I've not received the email, but I guess it's a generic email. As I currently using the 300x250 text only format, only for testing I'll change several ads to 300x250 text+graphic, and I'll track with a channel. If I detect better results, I'll post here.
For a starters "big brand name" companies dont care about click through, they care about how many times there video is watched. You might watch an interesting video, but your not going to click through to buy a caddie online are you? So most likely as far as i know you get CPM ads. Pierce
partly trooth, but if you really want to buy caddie you will try to find more info as possible about it (photos, reviews, prices etc.) and intuitevily you will click on such ad. Besides google counts impression, but there no guarantee that user really saw an ad.
Unanswered questions in the apparently widely ciruclated offter from AdSense: 1. Just how many pages do you need to put these square boxes for text/images and above the fold to qualify? 2. Doesn't this go completely against advice about blending ads with text and giving people a chance to read your content and THEN be in the mood to click for further stuff? 3. The suggestion to use custom channels does not explain whether if you use this format on a page that is already set up as a URL channel, do you need to delete the url channel to substitute a custom channel-- or can you have two channels for one page? 4. With these prominent, above the fold boxes, do they suggest removing other ads on the page?
Yeah i stock it right at the top of the site. Got another email from them saying to add it to the 300x250ATF "above the fold" Channel so publishers can see it. Still trying to figure out wherr to do that. ANy ideas?
